TWC declared me ineligible for benefits - need help understanding why and how to fix it
Hey everyone, I just found out I'm ineligible for unemployment benefits and I'm totally lost. Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you figure out why you were denied and what did you do to fix it? I really need some advice here.

Ugh, been there done that. First thing you gotta do is check if you got any letters from TWC explaining why youre ineligible. They usually send something out. If you didnt get anything, call them ASAP and ask for a detailed explanation.

•Thanks for the advice! I'll double-check my mail. Do you know how long it usually takes for them to send out those letters?

•In my experience, it can take anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks. But dont wait around if you havent gotten anything. Better to be proactive and give em a call.

There could be a bunch of reasons why youre ineligible. Did you work enough hours in your base period? Were you fired for misconduct? Are you available and actively looking for work? These are some common reasons ppl get denied.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at TWC! I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to your phone. It costs $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•I get it, but when you're desperate for answers and can't waste a whole day on hold, it's a lifesaver. Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money, ya know?

Listen up, cause I've been down this road before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Get your hands on that denial letter. If you can't find it, call TWC and request a copy. 2. Once you know the reason, gather all relevant documents to support your case. This could be pay stubs, termination letters, job search records, etc. 3. File an appeal ASAP. You usually have a limited time to do this, so don't drag your feet. 4. Prepare your case. Write down all the facts and organize your evidence. 5. Consider getting legal help. Some nonprofits offer free assistance with unemployment cases. 6. Show up to your appeal hearing (if there is one) and present your case calmly and clearly. Remember, a lot of initial denials get overturned on appeal. Don't give up!

•Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'm definitely going to follow these steps. Do you know how long the appeal process usually takes?

•It can vary, but typically it takes about 4-6 weeks from when you file the appeal to when you get a decision. Hang in there!

Hey, don't lose hope! I was in the same boat last year. Turned out they had my wages reported incorrectly. I appealed and got it sorted. Just stay persistent!

Pro tip: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online interaction. You never know what might be important later.

Anybody else think its ridiculous we gotta jump through all these hoops just to get what we're entitled to? The system is rigged against us, I swear.

•Come on, it's not that bad. They just need to verify everything to prevent fraud. It sucks, but it's necessary.

Edison, I feel your pain - I went through this same nightmare a few months ago. Here's what worked for me: First, don't panic. Most denials can be fixed if you know what you're doing. Check your online TWC account for any determination letters - they're usually posted there first. The most common reasons are insufficient work history, being fired "for cause," or not being available for work. Once you know the specific reason, you can build your appeal case. I ended up winning my appeal because I had documentation proving my termination was wrongful. The key is acting fast - you only have 14 days from the date of the determination to file an appeal. Don't let that deadline pass! Also, start documenting your job search activities immediately if you haven't already. Good luck, and don't give up!
