TWC called me with questions today - claim status update coming soon?
Got a call from TWC this morning asking me more questions about my employment separation. They wanted details about why I was let go and my availability for work. The lady was pretty nice and said they needed to 'verify some information for my claim.' She didn't say when I'd get a decision though. My claim status still says 'under review' in the online portal, but I'm taking the call as a good sign? Does anybody know how long after they call with questions that they actually make a determination? Trying not to stress but bills are piling up!

In my experience, getting a call is actually a really good sign. It means your claim is actively being processed rather than sitting in a stack somewhere. When they called me with questions last year, I got my determination letter within 5 days. Keep checking your correspondence inbox daily - they'll usually post the decision there before updating your claim status. Good luck!

•5 days would be AMAZING! Thanks for the tip about checking correspondence. I've been obsessively refreshing the main claim status page but hadn't thought to check my inbox separately.

DONT GET YOUR HOPES UP!!! They called me 3 TIMES with "just a few more questions" and my claim sat for 7 WEEKS before they made a decision!! The whole system is designed to wear you down so you'll give up. They'll probably call you again next week with more "questions" that you already answered today!!

•Oh no, seriously? That's really discouraging to hear. Did you ever try calling them back to check on status, or were you just stuck waiting?

It really depends on what they were asking about. If they were just verifying basic information about your separation, that's typically a good sign that they're wrapping things up. If they were asking about potential eligibility issues (like availability for work or refusal of work), they might need to investigate more. My suggestion is to keep doing your weekly payment requests on time, regardless of claim status. That way if/when they approve your claim, they can release all the back payments at once without any gaps.

•They definitely asked about both my separation AND my availability for work. I said I was available for full-time work in my field immediately. Hope that was the right answer! And yes, I've been doing my payment requests and work search activities religiously each week.

had same thing happen back in january. they called with questions then nothing for weeks. status stuck on review. finally tried claimyr.com to get through to TWC and got everything fixed in one call. worth the fee to not wait another month tbh. check their demo video if ur interested https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh

•Thanks for the suggestion! I've been wondering if there was a way to skip the wait times. If I don't hear something in the next week, I might try this. Did you have to explain your whole situation again, or did they have notes from your phone interview?

•they had all the notes already in system. just needed someone to actually look at my file and make decision. took like 10 mins once i got thru

my reviewing message disappeared too when they called me! totally normal, just means they're actively processing your claim now instead of it being in the initial review phase

•Oh that makes sense! I was worried it was a bad sign that the message disappeared.

The timing can vary A LOT, unfortunately. Technical stuff like this depends on your specific claim details: - Regular layoff with employer confirming everything: usually 5-10 days after phone interview - Disputed reason for separation: could be 2-4 weeks as they investigate - Potential eligibility issues (like availability limitations): usually 1-3 weeks One thing that might speed it up is if you have any documentation about your separation. If they're still reviewing details, you can upload supporting documents through the portal under "Claim and Payment Status" then "View Information About Claims Being Processed." Might help them make a faster decision!

•Thank you for the detailed breakdown! It's actually a disputed separation - my employer is claiming misconduct but I'm saying it was just performance issues after they changed my job duties. I'll upload my performance reviews to show the timeline.

•Yes, I answered everything she asked. She was asking a lot about whether I was fired for breaking company rules or just for not meeting metrics. I explained that I was let go because I couldn't keep up after they doubled my workload.

If it's a disputed separation as you mentioned in another comment, you might want to prepare for a possible appeal just in case. Texas has a 14-day window to appeal a determination if it doesn't go your way. Collect any documentation you have: performance reviews, emails about job changes, anything that supports your side of the story. Most people don't realize that even if you get denied initially, you have a good chance of winning on appeal if you have documentation.

•That's excellent advice, thank you! I do have emails showing when my job duties changed and performance reviews from before that were positive. I'll get those organized just in case I need to appeal.

Update us when you hear something! I'm curious if things move faster in 2025 than they did last year. The whole system was a NIGHTMARE then!

•Will do! If I don't hear anything by next Friday, I'll probably try calling them or use that Claimyr service someone mentioned. Can't afford to wait forever.
