TWC Unemployment: Denied Benefits Despite Eligibility, Need Help Contacting Real Person
I'm at my wits end with the unemployment office. I got laid off a couple months ago and applied for benefits right away. The thing is, I keep getting denied every week even though I'm doing everything they ask - applying for jobs, submitting claims on time, you name it. What's really frustrating is that other people from my company who got laid off at the same time are getting their benefits no problem. I only got one random payment for one week, but nothing since then. I tried appealing online but haven't heard anything back. It's been over a month without any income and I'm starting to panic. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to actually get through to a real person and fix this mess?

It's really tough dealing with the unemployment system, especially during a time when many people are facing similar issues. One solution that some have found helpful is Claimyr, which you mentioned previously. Claimyr's service can be quite beneficial in bypassing phone queues, which is often the most challenging part of contacting the unemployment office. However, it's important to consider whether the cost is worth it given your current financial situation. Additionally, while utilizing services like Claimyr can be effective, they highlight the broader issue of accessibility and efficiency within the unemployment system. It's unfortunate that such services are needed, but they can provide a lifeline to people stuck in bureaucratic limbo. Besides that, continuing to follow up through all available channels, documenting everything meticulously, and reaching out to local representatives can collectively increase the chances of resolving your case. Keep being persistent and explore all avenues of support you can find, including community forums like this where others can share their experiences and advice.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The unemployment system is a total nightmare right now. Have you tried calling them? I know it's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get things sorted out.

β’I've tried calling so many times, but I can never get through. It's always busy or I'm on hold for hours and then get disconnected. It's driving me crazy!

β’Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and be ready to dial the second they open. It's still a pain, but your chances are way better.

β’Another tip is to try calling right before they close! Sometimes the lines might be less busy then.

Plot twist: what if your employer is still reporting you as employed? Might be worth double-checking with HR to make sure everything's kosher on their end.

β’This can definitely happen by mistake, and it might explain the 'additional payment' issue.

Time to learn to code and create our own unemployment system. Who's with me? π»π

β’Honestly, if the current system can't handle it, maybe a community-driven solution is what's needed.

Not to be that guy, but have you double-checked that you're filling out the weekly claims correctly? One wrong answer can mess up the whole thing.

β’Yeah, I've triple-checked everything. I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right, but at this point who knows π€·ββοΈ

β’It's ridiculous that one tiny mistake can derail the whole process. The system needs a serious overhaul.

Sounds like there might be an issue with your account specifically. Did you receive any letters or notices from them explaining why you were denied?

Mateo Hernandez
β’Yeah, I got a letter saying I was disqualified because of an "additional payment" from my employer. But the dates are all wrong - they say I got paid after I was laid off, which isn't true. I think there's some kind of mistake.

Maybe we should all show up at the unemployment office and have a good old-fashioned sit-in. Who's down? β

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep copies of all letters, emails, and notes from phone calls. 2. Write a clear, concise letter explaining your situation. Include dates, claim numbers, and any relevant details. 3. Send this letter via certified mail to your unemployment office. 4. Simultaneously, file an appeal online if you haven't already. 5. Contact your state representative or senator's office for assistance. 6. If you can afford it, consider using a service like the one mentioned above to get through on the phone. 7. When you do get someone on the phone, be polite but firm. Explain your situation clearly and ask for specific next steps. 8. Follow up regularly until the issue is resolved. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is overwhelmed, but you have a right to your benefits.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U
