TWC: No reply for 3 months, about to be evicted. How to get benefits ASAP?
I've been out of work for almost 3 months and haven't received any unemployment benefits. I'm about to be evicted and become homeless. I've tried contacting the unemployment office but can't get through. The office is closed now and I'm desperate for help. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to get my benefits processed quickly?

Man, I feel you. I was in the same boat last year. It's freakin ridiculous how hard it is to get ahold of someone at the unemployment office. Have you tried calling right when they open? That's what finally worked for me.

Yeah, I've tried that a few times. No luck so far 😞 How long did it take you to finally get through?

It took me like 2 weeks of trying every single day. Keep at it, you'll get through eventually!

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm skeptical. Why should we have to pay to get basic government services? 🤔

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate enough to try anything. The $20 was worth it to finally get my benefits sorted.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

Ugh, the unemployment system is such a joke. I've been waiting 5 months for my appeal to go through. Good luck, OP. 🤞

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call exactly at 8:01 AM when they open 2. If you get a busy signal, hang up and immediately redial 3. Keep doing this for at least an hour 4. If you get through, DO NOT hang up no matter what 5. Be super nice to the rep when you finally talk to someone It took me about a week of trying this method before I got through. Also, make sure you have all your documents ready when you call. Good luck!

This is solid advice. I'd add: use multiple phones if you can to increase your chances!

This is why we need a complete overhaul of the unemployment system. It's not equipped to handle crises like this pandemic. We should be writing to our representatives and demanding change.

100% agree. The system has been broken for years, but now it's just completely falling apart.

Hey OP, if you're facing eviction, look into emergency rental assistance programs in your area. Many cities and counties have funds available to help people in your situation. It might buy you some time while you sort out the unemployment issue.

Thank you, I'll definitely look into that. Anything to buy some more time would be helpful.

Pro tip: if you get through to ANYONE at the unemployment office, even if its not the right department, ask them to transfer you. Sometimes that's the only way to get to the right person.
