Late TWC payment request - how long until deposit after requesting on Thursday instead of Monday?

I totally messed up my regular payment request day (Monday) because I was in the ER with my kid all weekend. Didn't request until Thursday afternoon. Now I'm worried about when I'll actually see the money! Does requesting late push the whole payment timeline back? My rent is due next Wednesday and I really need this deposit. Has anyone else requested late and can tell me how many days it typically takes for the money to show up in your account after a delayed request? Will TWC penalize me for requesting outside my assigned day?

When you request payment late, it typically takes 2-3 business days for the deposit to show up, just like a regular payment request. So if you requested Thursday, you might see it Monday or Tuesday, assuming there are no other issues with your claim. TWC doesn't usually penalize for occasional late requests - life happens! Just make sure you don't miss your next request window completely.

Thank you! That's a relief to hear. So you think I should have it by Tuesday? That would save me from having to beg my landlord for an extension.

That's reassuring, thanks for letting me know!

Late requests are ALWAYS delayed in my experience!! My last payment took 9 DAYS to process when I requested late!!! They SAY it's the same timeline but it's NOT!!! The system puts you at the back of the line and you have to wait for them to process the "exceptions" which they do LAST. Good luck calling them to check on it too - IMPOSSIBLE to get through!!!

Oh no, that's exactly what I'm worried about!! I can't wait 9 days! Did you try calling them to speed it up?

0 coins

YES I tried calling!!! Busy signal for THREE DAYS STRAIGHT! The TWC phone system is completely BROKEN!

I had a similar situation last month when I requested on Wednesday instead of my assigned Monday. The payment showed up in my account Friday morning, so it was actually pretty quick. I think the timing depends partly on your bank too. Some banks process TWC deposits faster than others. Direct deposit to Wells Fargo usually posts for me within 48 hours of requesting, even when I'm a couple days late.

Same with Chase - they seem to process TWC deposits quickly. I think the people having really long delays probably have other issues with their claims.

I've had to call TWC about this exact issue before. Late requests typically take the standard 2-3 business days to process, but there can be exceptions. If you're really concerned about the timing, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a TWC agent directly. They helped me bypass the busy signals when I needed to check on a delayed payment. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh Just explain to the agent that you had a legitimate reason for the late request (medical emergency with your child) and ask them to confirm when you should expect the deposit.

Thanks for that suggestion! I hadn't heard of that service before. If I don't see the deposit by Monday, I might try it. Have you used it yourself?

Yes, I used it twice when I couldn't get through on the regular line. Waited about 15 minutes the first time and 23 minutes the second time - way better than the days of calling I was doing before. The agent was able to tell me exactly what was happening with my claim.

quick question - this is kinda related - does anyone know if requesting on thursdy instead of monday messes up the day you're supposed to request for next time? like does your request day permanently change or do you still request on monday for the next time?

0 coins

Your assigned request day doesn't change. If Monday is your regular day, it stays Monday even if you requested late this time. The TWC system assigns your request day based on the last digit of your Social Security Number, and that doesn't change when you request late once.

oh good to know thanks!!! was worried id mess up my whole schedule

Just to add some clarity here - requesting late doesn't generally affect the processing time, but it does affect when your next request will be available. Since you requested Thursday instead of Monday, your next request will be available 2 weeks from Thursday, not 2 weeks from Monday. That's something to keep in mind for your budgeting. As for your current payment, if there are no issues with your claim, you should see it within 2-3 business days from Thursday, so likely Monday or Tuesday. If you provided your landlord with proof of unemployment, they might be more understanding about a slight delay.

Wait - so my next request day is permanently changed now? I thought I'd still request on Mondays! This is getting confusing.

No, your assigned day based on your SSN doesn't change, but your next available request date will be two weeks from when you actually requested (so two weeks from Thursday in your case). After that, you can go back to requesting on your regular Monday schedule if you request on time.

my sister works at a bank and she says twc payments usually hit accounts overnight so if u requested thursday you'd probably see it friday morning or monday morning since banks dont process on weekends

Update: The payment just hit my account this morning! So it took exactly 2 business days (Thursday request -> Monday deposit). Thanks everyone for your help and advice. Such a relief to have this sorted before rent is due!

Great news! Glad it worked out for you. And now you know for the future that occasional late requests aren't a big problem. Just try to stick to your regular schedule when possible.

You got lucky! Mine NEVER process that fast when late!

Congrats on getting your payment sorted! For anyone else reading this who might be in a similar situation - I've found that having a medical emergency is actually considered a "good cause" exception by TWC. If you ever have documentation from the ER visit, you can submit that if there are any issues with your claim. It's worth keeping those records just in case. Hope your kid is feeling better now!

That's really good to know about the medical emergency documentation! I didn't even think to keep those ER papers but that makes total sense. My kid is doing much better now, thank you for asking. It was just one of those scary parenting moments where everything else goes out the window. I'll definitely keep this advice in mind for the future - hopefully I won't need it but it's reassuring to know TWC has provisions for legitimate emergencies like this.

I'm so glad everything worked out for you and your payment came through on time! This is really helpful information for others who might find themselves in a similar situation. Medical emergencies definitely take priority over everything else, and it sounds like TWC's system handled your late request pretty reasonably. Hope your little one is feeling much better now - ER visits with kids are so stressful. Thanks for updating us on how it turned out!

This whole thread has been so helpful! As someone new to the TWC system, it's reassuring to see that they're generally understanding about genuine emergencies. The fact that you got your payment in just 2 business days despite requesting late really shows the system works pretty well most of the time. I'm bookmarking this conversation in case I ever run into a similar situation. Hope your child is fully recovered now!

This is such valuable information for anyone dealing with TWC payment timing! I'm really glad to see that most people had positive experiences with late requests - it gives me hope that the system is more flexible than I initially thought. The medical emergency aspect is especially important to highlight since life really does happen and sometimes unemployment payments are the only thing keeping people afloat. Thanks to everyone who shared their actual timelines and experiences. It's so much more helpful than trying to decipher the official TWC website!

Absolutely agree! This thread has been incredibly informative and shows how much the community can help each other navigate these stressful situations. It's so reassuring to see real experiences rather than just the vague official guidelines. The fact that medical emergencies are considered valid reasons for late requests is something I definitely didn't know before. Really appreciate everyone sharing their actual timelines and banking experiences too - those details make all the difference when you're trying to plan around rent and bills!

I'm really glad to see how this community comes together to help each other through these stressful TWC situations! As someone who's dealt with similar timing issues, I can definitely relate to that panic when you realize you've missed your regular request day. It's such a relief to see that most people got their payments within the normal 2-3 business day window even when requesting late. The medical emergency angle is really important too - I had no idea TWC considered that "good cause" for late requests. This whole thread is going to be so helpful for anyone else who finds themselves in a similar situation. Thanks everyone for sharing your real experiences instead of just speculation!

This thread really is a great example of how much more helpful real community experiences are compared to official government websites! I'm new to dealing with TWC and was honestly pretty anxious about what would happen if I ever missed my request day. Seeing that the system is generally forgiving for legitimate emergencies like medical situations is such a relief. The detail about keeping ER documentation as "good cause" evidence is something I never would have thought of but makes total sense. Really appreciate how everyone shared specific timelines and bank processing info too - those practical details are exactly what you need when you're stressed about making rent!

Just wanted to add my experience for anyone else who might search this thread later - I had to request late twice due to family emergencies and both times got my payment within 3 business days max. The key thing I learned is to not panic and assume the worst when life gets in the way. TWC's system seems pretty robust for handling these situations, especially when you have a legitimate reason like a medical emergency. Also, if you're ever worried about timing with bills, most utility companies and even some landlords are understanding if you can show proof that you're receiving unemployment benefits and just had a processing delay. Keep those payment confirmations and screenshots of your TWC account status - they can really help when you need to explain a situation to creditors.

This is such great practical advice! The tip about keeping payment confirmations and TWC account screenshots is really smart - I never thought about using those as documentation when talking to landlords or utility companies. It's reassuring to hear from someone who's been through late requests multiple times and had consistent success with the 3-day timeline. Your point about not panicking is so important too because when you're already stressed about money, missing a request day can feel catastrophic. Thanks for sharing those tips about working with creditors - that's the kind of real-world advice that can make a huge difference when you're navigating these situations!
