Can't link ID.me to my TWC account - stuck in verification loop!

I'm completely frustrated trying to link my ID.me verification to my TWC unemployment account! I created the ID.me account 3 days ago, went through all the steps with my driver's license and selfie verification, and got the green checkmark saying I was verified. But when I try to log into my TWC account, it keeps sending me back to ID.me over and over! I've tried clearing my cache, using different browsers (Chrome AND Firefox), and even attempted on my phone. Nothing works! Each time I get redirected to ID.me, verify again, then get stuck in this endless loop. My benefits payment request is due in 2 days and I'm panicking that I'll miss it because of this stupid technical issue. Has anyone else dealt with this ID.me nightmare and actually fixed it? What am I doing wrong??

This is a common issue right now with the ID.me integration. I spent three weeks dealing with this exact problem and finally got it resolved. Here's what you need to do: 1. Do NOT keep trying to re-verify through ID.me - that actually makes the problem worse 2. Log out of BOTH your TWC account and ID.me completely 3. Clear your browser cache AND cookies (not just cache) 4. Wait at least 30 minutes (the systems need time to sync) 5. Try logging in to TWC directly (not through ID.me) If that doesn't work, you need to call TWC directly and have them manually link your accounts on their end. The agent can override the system loop.

Thank you for these detailed steps! I just tried steps 1-5 and I'm STILL getting the same redirect loop. I've been calling the TWC number for two days straight and can't get through - just busy signals or the automated system telling me call volume is too high. Is there a specific number or time that worked for you?

I went through this EXACT SAME THING in January!!! It's because the TWC system and ID.me don't communicate properly. The problem is on THEIR end, not yours!! I tried calling over 50 times and kept getting busy signals or disconnected. I finally got through to an actual human at TWC after using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have a system that holds your place in line and calls you when an agent is available. Worked for me after I wasted DAYS trying to call myself. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh Once I got a TWC agent on the phone, they fixed the ID.me link issue in literally 2 minutes. It was a simple database flag they had to change on their end.

is that service legit? seems sketchy to use a third party when dealing with unemployment stuff

Yeah, I was skeptical too at first, but it's just a callback service. The actual conversation is directly with a TWC agent. They don't have access to your claim information or anything like that - they just get you connected to TWC faster.

The ID.me verification loop is a well-known issue that many claimants experience. The problem stems from a session token conflict between the two systems. I recommend trying these additional steps that worked for several people: 1. Use an incognito/private browsing window 2. Access TWC through the main website (twc.texas.gov) rather than through any bookmarked links 3. When prompted for ID.me, select the option "I've already verified with ID.me" if available 4. If you have multiple email addresses associated with either system, make sure you're using the same email for both TWC and ID.me If these steps don't resolve the issue, you'll definitely need to speak with a TWC representative. Most technical problems can only be fixed on their end, unfortunately.

Thank you for these suggestions! I just tried the incognito window approach and it got me one step further (I saw my dashboard briefly) but then kicked me back to ID.me again. I think you're right that I need to speak with TWC directly. Going to try first thing tomorrow morning when the phone lines open.

I work in IT and had to help my brother with this exact issue last month. The problem is that the TWC system has a cached version of your authentication status that doesn't update properly after ID.me verification. There's actually a backdoor solution that sometimes works: Try accessing your TWC account through the payment request URL directly: https://apps.twc.texas.gov/UBS/changePaymentRequest.do This bypasses the normal login flow and sometimes avoids the redirect loop. If that doesn't work, you absolutely need to call TWC and have them reset your authentication status on their end. There's no technical workaround you can do yourself if the backdoor method doesn't work.

OMG THANK YOU!!! That link got me in!!! I was able to access my payment request page and submit my required information without getting kicked back to ID.me. You're a lifesaver! Do you think I'll have the same problem next time I need to log in, or is it fixed permanently now?

Great! Unfortunately, this is likely just a temporary workaround. The root problem is still there, so you might encounter the same issue next time you log in normally. I'd recommend calling TWC when you can to have them properly link your accounts on their end. But at least you got your payment request submitted on time!

just wanted to say that TWC is the WORST. i've been on unemployment 3 times in the last 6 years and EVERY SINGLE TIME there's some new technical problem to deal with. first it was the password reset system never sending emails, then the work search validation errors, now this id.me garbage. why can't they just hire competent IT people????

While the frustration is understandable, it's worth noting that TWC's systems handle millions of claims, especially after the massive surge during COVID. Their systems weren't designed for that volume. The ID.me integration was implemented to reduce fraud, which was a major problem. While the execution has issues, the intention was to protect legitimate claimants.

UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who helped! I was able to get in through the backdoor link that @profile1 shared and submit my payment request on time. I also managed to get through to TWC this morning by calling right when they opened (7:00 AM exactly). The agent confirmed there was an issue with how my ID.me account was linked in their system. She said something about "mismatched identity tokens" and had to manually update something on their end. She also mentioned this is happening to a lot of people right now and they're working on a fix. For anyone else having this problem, definitely call TWC directly to get it permanently fixed, but try that backdoor link as a temporary solution if your payment request deadline is approaching!
