PA UC weekly certification mess-up - can't get payment until next week because of ID verification
I'm freaking out right now and need help! I was doing my weekly certification on Sunday like normal when suddenly it asked me to verify my identity. I must have clicked something wrong because it made me recertify my entire claim! Now the system is saying I'm getting skipped this week and won't get paid until NEXT week. I have bills due THIS Friday and I'm completely broke. Has this happened to anyone else? Is calling unemployment really the only way to fix this? I've tried calling like 20 times already and can't get through. There's got to be another solution, right??

This happened to me last month! When the system asks for ID verification during a weekly cert, you have to complete it but NOT start a new claim. Unfortunately, it sounds like you accidentally initiated a new claim process instead of just verifying your ID. And yes, the only way to fix this quickly is to speak with an actual claims examiner. They can override the system and release your payment.

•Ugh that's what I was afraid of! How did you finally reach someone? I've been calling constantly!

After trying for a week to reach PA UC with no luck, I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in about 20 minutes. They have this service where they basically wait on hold for you and then call you when they get a PA UC agent on the line. I was super skeptical but watched their demo video (https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2) and decided to try it since I was desperate. The agent I spoke with was able to fix my payment issue right away. Might be worth trying since you need this resolved quickly.

•I don't trust those services. How do you know they won't steal your information?

•They don't ask for any unemployment login info or anything like that. They just call UC for you and then connect you when they get someone. You still talk directly to the UC agent yourself.

Here's what actually happened with your claim: When the system prompted for ID verification, that's part of the quarterly identity verification process PA UC implemented in 2024. It's random and happens to everyone eventually. If you initiated a new claim instead of just verifying your identity, the system interprets this as a Break in Claim (BIC). Under PA UC regulations, a BIC requires a one-week waiting period before benefits resume. You have two options: 1. Reach an agent who can manually override the BIC flag (fastest solution) 2. Wait for the system to automatically process your payment next week Make sure when you call to specifically mention 'Break in Claim error during identity verification' so the rep knows exactly what to look for. Also ask them to check if your claim was actually restarted or if it just appears that way in the system.

•Thank you so much for explaining this! At least now I understand what happened. I'll definitely mention the 'Break in Claim error' when I finally reach someone.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE US FAIL!!!! I've had similar problems 3 times this benefit year alone. They put these random verification things in to trick people into messing up their claims so they don't have to pay us. WHY do we need to verify our identity AGAIN when we already did it when we opened our claims?? It's just bureaucratic nonsense to save the state money by making claims too complicated for the average person.

I had a somewhat similar situation happen with my claim back in February. I ended up using the message center in my dashboard instead of calling. I sent a detailed message explaining exactly what happened and asking them to fix the issue. Surprisingly, they responded within 2 days and fixed it! My payment was processed the next day. Worth a try if you can't get through on the phone.

•I'll try the message center right now! Did you use any specific wording that seemed to help get a faster response?

•I made sure to put "URGENT PAYMENT ISSUE" in the subject line, and then I was very specific about what happened and included my last 4 SSN digits and claim confirmation number in the message. I think being super clear about the problem helped.

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone! I tried that Claimyr service that someone suggested above and it actually worked. Got connected to a PA UC rep in about 30 minutes. They explained that I accidentally started a Break in Claim when the ID verification popped up. The rep was able to fix it and release my payment! It should be on my Money Network card by tomorrow. Thank you all for the help and suggestions!

•That's great news! Glad you got it sorted out. For future reference, whenever you see anything unusual during your weekly certification, it's best to slow down and read everything carefully. The system doesn't always make it clear what you're actually doing.
