PA UC redetermination letters keep arriving - Do I need to respond if I agree with the benefit amount?

Just received multiple copies of the same financial redetermination letter from PA UC listing my weekly benefit amount and total benefit amount. This is the third identical letter I've gotten in the past week! Each one shows the same appeal deadline date. I actually agree with their calculation based on my wages, so I wasn't planning to appeal, but I'm confused why they keep sending duplicates. Can't sign into my portal right now to check what's going on. Am I supposed to respond to these letters even if I agree with the determination? Getting anxious since I don't want to mess anything up with my claim.

ur fine if u agree w the $$$ amount then just ignore them. PA uc systems r glitchy af and duplicate letters happen all the time. they probably just printed multiple copies by accident. as long as u dont disagree with the benefit calculation u dont gotta do anything

Thanks! That's a relief. Their systems really are a mess. I'll just save one copy and recycle the others I guess.

The multiple letters are likely a system glitch. If you agree with the financial determination (your weekly benefit amount and total benefits), you don't need to take any action. Only file an appeal if you believe the calculated amount is incorrect based on your wages. The redetermination letters always include appeal rights information because it's required by law, not because they expect you to appeal. Keep one copy for your records in case there are questions later about your benefit amount.

This happened to me last month too! Got 4 identical letters. So wasteful on their part 🙄 Nothing bad happened when I ignored them. My payments started normally the next week.

I would CALL THEM to make sure!!! The UC office frequently makes mistakes and you only have 15 DAYS to appeal from the date on the letter. I once got multiple letters with DIFFERENT amounts and almost missed my chance to fix it because I assumed they were copies. Better safe than sorry with PA unemployment - they're notorious for errors!!!

Honestly, PA UC phone lines are practically impossible to get through. I spent 3 weeks trying to call before discovering Claimyr (claimyr.com). Their service got me through to an actual PA UC agent in about 20 minutes after weeks of busy signals. They have a video demo of how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 Might be worth checking out if you actually need to talk to someone about those letters. I used it to sort out a similar issue with duplicate notices and saved myself a ton of headaches.

Financial redetermination letters don't require a response if you agree with the determination. The appeal deadline is only relevant if you disagree with their calculation of your benefit amount. The multiple copies are almost certainly a system error - PA UC is currently updating their computer systems and these duplicate mailings have been happening frequently. I've had several clients receive 2-3 identical notices. As long as the information in the letters is consistent and correct, you can ignore the duplicates. Just keep one copy for your records. The system glitch sending multiple letters has no impact on your actual claim status.

That's really helpful to know about the system updates. The info in all the letters is identical - same weekly amount, same total benefits, same wages listed. I'll just hold onto one copy. Thank you!

If you're receiving letters with different benefit amounts, that's definitely something you should look into. Financial determinations with different amounts could indicate that your wages are being recalculated or corrected. Check the date on each letter - the most recent one is the valid determination. If you have questions about why the amounts changed, you should contact UC for clarification.

Don't worry about the duplicate letters - I've been on UC twice in PA and both times they sent multiple copies of important documents. Totally normal (though wasteful). As long as you're satisfied with the benefit amount they calculated, you don't need to do anything. But def keep at least one copy of the letter! You might need to reference your WBA (weekly benefit amount) later, especially when doing job searches or if you have part-time earnings to report.

Thanks! That makes me feel better knowing it's a common issue. I'll definitely keep one copy for reference - good point about possibly needing the exact WBA amount later.

btw has anybody else noticed their benefit payments taking longer to process in 2025? my last 2 weekly claims are still stuck as 'in progress' for like 10 days now

Mine are delayed too! Usually get paid Tuesdays but now it's taking until Thursday or Friday. I think it's related to those system updates someone mentioned above.

I had the exact same thing happen to me in January! Got 3 identical redetermination letters over 5 days and was so confused. Called PA UC (took forever to get through) and they confirmed it was just a printing error on their end. The rep told me that if all the letters show the same amounts and you agree with the calculation, you can just ignore them - no response needed. Only time you need to act is if you disagree with their wage/benefit calculation and want to appeal. Keep one copy for your records though, just in case you need it later. Their system really is a mess but at least in this case it's harmless!

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's really reassuring to hear that calling UC confirmed it was just a printing error. I was getting worried that maybe I was missing something important, but sounds like this is definitely a known issue on their end. Good to know I can just keep one copy and move on. Really appreciate you taking the time to actually call them - saves the rest of us from having to deal with those impossible phone lines!
