PA UC payment stuck in 'In Process' status - waiting for trans number
Hi everyone, I filed my weekly PA unemployment claim 5 days ago and it's still showing 'In Process' status with no transaction number appearing. Usually I get paid within 2-3 days after filing. I'm starting to worry because rent is due next week and I need this money. Anyone know how long this 'In Process' limbo typically lasts before a transaction number shows up? Is there something I need to do, or is this just a normal delay? I've never had it take this long before.

•2 WEEKS?? I can't wait that long! Did they give you any explanation for the delay?

In Process usually means they're reviewing something with your claim. Could be random, could be they need to verify something. Hard to tell without more info. Have you checked your dashboard for any notices or open issues? Sometimes it doesn't notify you when there's a problem.

•Just checked my dashboard and there's nothing showing up there - no messages, no open issues, nothing. It just shows my claim as 'In Process' with no other details. Should I be calling them?

If you've got no open issues, it's probably just a delay. BUT sometimes they don't update the system with open issues right away. I was in 'In Process' for 3 weeks once and turns out they needed wage verification but never sent me a notice!!! RIDICULOUS system they have. Might be worth trying to get through to someone.

I work with PA UC claims regularly. "In Process" status can last anywhere from 1-14 days depending on current processing volumes. If there are no open issues showing on your dashboard, it's likely just in the payment processing queue. However, if it goes beyond 10 business days without changing to a transaction number, that's when you should definitely contact them. One thing to check: Did you answer anything differently on your weekly certification compared to previous weeks? Even small changes can trigger a review.

•Thanks for the information! I don't think I answered anything differently. The only thing I can think of is that I reported a small amount of income from a one-day gig job ($65). Could that have triggered a review?

Yes, reporting new income for the first time can absolutely trigger a review, especially if it's from a new employer. That's very likely the cause of the delay. They may be verifying the income amount. Since it's a small amount, it shouldn't disqualify you from benefits, but it could explain why your payment is in process longer than usual.

•That makes sense. Should I just keep waiting then? I'm getting worried since my bills are coming due.

I had almost the exact same situation back in February - reported some side gig income and got stuck in 'In Process' for over a week. I finally got through to someone at UC using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have this service where they connect you directly to a PA UC agent instead of waiting on hold forever. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 Turns out there was a flag on my account due to the new income, but the agent cleared it right away once I explained. Got my money two days later with the transaction number finally showing up.

•does that service actually work? i thought it was a scam lol

It definitely works - saved me like 3 hours of hold time. They just connect you with the actual UC people, not some third party. The UC agent I spoke with confirmed my issue was just the new income verification and fixed it while I was on the phone.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give them another day or two and if nothing changes I might try that service. Just wish the system was more transparent about what's happening with our claims.

lol everybody acting like 5 days is some huge wait time. i waited 6 WEEKS last year when they flagged my account for "out of state ip address" just cuz i was using my sisters wifi. pa uc is completly broken, dont expect anything to be fast

•That's a bit extreme though. Most payments go through in 2-3 days if there are no issues. Just because you had a terrible experience doesn't mean everyone should expect that. Still, always good to be prepared for delays with PA UC - they're definitely not known for their efficiency.

Quick update on timing expectations: According to the PA UC processing schedules for 2025, they're processing new gig/part-time income reports within 5-7 business days right now due to staffing issues. So if you reported that $65 income, you're still within the normal processing window. If nothing changes by next Tuesday, then I'd definitely reach out.

•Thank you! That's really helpful to know. I'll wait until Tuesday, and if there's still no change I'll try to contact them. Really appreciate everyone's advice and sharing your experiences.
