PA UC backpay approved by phone rep - when will payment actually hit my account?
So after 8 weeks of fighting with PA UC, I FINALLY got through to an actual human on the phone today! The rep reviewed my claim (which had been stuck in limbo with an 'open issue' since February) and approved it on the spot. She said I'm getting all my backpay from the past 2 months! I'm so relieved but also still worried because I've been burned before... Once a claim is approved by phone, how long until the money actually hits my Money Network card? Rep said 'next week' but wasn't specific. Anyone have recent experience with this? I've got rent due soon and need to know if I can count on this or need to beg my landlord for another extension.

Congrats on getting your claim approved! Generally, once a rep approves your backpay, you'll see the funds within 2-3 business days. Each weekly payment will show up separately in your payment history, and they'll all be loaded onto your Money Network card at once. Make sure your direct deposit info is correct in the system if you opted for that instead of the card. Sometimes the first payment after approval takes slightly longer (up to 4 business days), but subsequent payments follow the regular schedule.

•Thank you! That's super helpful. Do you know if it matters that tomorrow is Friday? Will that delay things until next week since banks don't process on weekends?

•Oh no, 8 days? That's going to be a problem. Did they give you any explanation for why it took so long?

I just went through this exact situation in March! My backpay hit my account exactly 3 business days after the phone approval. But here's a tip - if you log into your PA UC account and go to your payment history, you'll see the payments switch from "pending" to "processed" before they actually hit your card. That way you'll know they're on the way. Congrats on getting approved!

THE PHONE REPS ALWAYS LIE!!!! I was told my backpay was approved TWICE by phone reps and STILL don't have my money almost a month later!!! Don't trust anything they say until you SEE THE MONEY!!! They're all trained to get you off the phone as fast as possible with empty promises!!!!

•While I understand your frustration, what you experienced isn't typical. Most phone approvals are legitimate and process correctly. The rep may have approved it on their end, but sometimes there are system issues or additional verification steps that weren't explained properly. Did you check your claim status online to see if there are still open issues? Sometimes calling back and speaking to a different rep can resolve lingering problems.

If you're still struggling to reach PA UC reps for status updates, check out Claimyr (claimyr.com). It helped me get through after weeks of busy signals. Their system calls PA UC for you until they get through, then connects you. Saved me hours of frustration. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. I was skeptical but it actually worked when I needed to check on my backpay situation.

My sister works for the Treasury department (not UC but still govt) and she says payment processing depends on what time of day your claim was approved. If it was approved before 3pm, it usually processes the next business day. After 3pm, add another day. Also payments released on Friday don't hit accounts until Monday or Tuesday usually. Hope that helps!

•That's really specific and helpful info! My call was around 11am so hopefully that means faster processing. Thank you!

•PUA ended in 2021. All current claims would be regular UC, Extended Benefits, or UCFE (for federal employees). The payment timeline is the same for all current programs though - typically 2-3 business days after approval.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know my payment came through! It took exactly 4 business days from approval. All the backpay came at once. Thanks everyone for your help!
