PA UC WorkSearch red warning despite being registered with recall date - due tomorrow!

I'm freaking out a little! Just logged into my PA UC portal and the work registration requirement box is showing up RED with a warning that I need to be registered by 8/8/2025 (literally tomorrow). But here's the weird part - I already registered with PA CareerLink months ago when I first filed my claim. My employer has given me a written recall date for September 15th (I'm a seasonal worker at a processing plant), which should exempt me from the weekly work search requirements. But this red box has me worried they're going to cut off my benefits. Has anyone dealt with this glitch before? Do I need to re-register even though I'm already in their system?

same thing happened to me back in march! the system doesn't always recognize your work registration correctly even if your on standby with a recall date. I called and they fixed it pretty quick... the lady said sometimes it's just a computer glitch

Thanks! Did you have to call the UC service center? I've been trying for 2 days with no luck getting through...

This is a common system error in PA unemployment. Even with a written recall date that exempts you from weekly work search activities, the system still requires the basic work registration with PA CareerLink. Did you complete BOTH parts? 1) Register on CareerLink AND 2) Verify your registration on your UC dashboard? The second verification step trips up a lot of people. Also, take a screenshot of your CareerLink registration confirmation in case you need to prove it later during an appeal.

I definitely did the CareerLink registration part, but I'm not sure about verifying it on my UC dashboard. How exactly do I do that second step? I can't find that option anywhere!

dont worry to much about it man, those warnings are mostly just to scare u into compliance. i had the same red box for like 3 weeks and nothing happened to my payments

This is dangerous advice. The system absolutely will stop payments if registration requirements aren't met. The grace period ended in 2023 after the post-pandemic transition. Please don't risk your benefits based on outdated information.

I went through this EXACT same thing last month with my seasonal layoff from the school district! The issue is that even though you're exempt from WEEKLY work search because of your recall date, you still need to complete the INITIAL work registration requirement. It's stupid and confusing, I know. But you need to login to your PA CareerLink account and make sure your profile is 100% complete. Then there should be something about sharing your profile with UC. That's what finally fixed the red box for me.

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! This makes sense now. I'll check my CareerLink profile right away to make sure it's complete and properly shared with UC.

To properly handle this situation: 1. Log into PA CareerLink and ensure your profile is 100% complete 2. In CareerLink, make sure you've checked the box to share your information with UC 3. Return to your UC dashboard and look for the verification button (it's sometimes hidden in the work search section) 4. If you can't find the verification option or if the red warning persists after verification, you need to speak with a UC representative Your recall letter should exempt you from weekly work search activities, but NOT from the initial registration requirement. This is a common misunderstanding.

Thank you for the clear steps! I'll try these right away. If I still can't resolve it, I guess I'll have to keep trying to get through on the phone.

I had this exact problem back in February. Spent 3 days trying to call the UC service center with no luck - constant busy signals and disconnections. I was desperate because my deadline was approaching, so I tried a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a UC agent in about 40 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. The agent confirmed I was properly registered and removed the red warning. Might be worth checking out since your deadline is tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip! I think I'll try this as a last resort if I can't get it resolved by late afternoon. Did they need any special information to help fix the registration issue?

Just your claim info and they'll look up your registration status. They fixed mine in about 5 minutes once I got through to them. The agent told me it happens all the time with recall date situations.

I HATE THE PA UC SYSTEM!!! It's designed to CONFUSE people and make us lose our benefits over stupid technicalities!!!! I lost 3 weeks of benefits last year because of this EXACT ISSUE and had to file an appeal which took FOREVER to resolve!!!! The whole system is RIGGED against workers!!!!!

Quick update on the CareerLink/UC connection issue: There was a system update in early 2025 that sometimes disconnects previously linked accounts. If you registered before March 2025, you may need to re-establish the connection between your CareerLink and UC accounts. This is different from re-registering completely. Log into CareerLink, go to your profile settings, and look for "UC Data Sharing Preferences" or something similar. Make sure that's enabled, then wait 24 hours for the systems to sync.

This is really helpful! I did register back in January, so that might explain the issue. I'll check those data sharing settings right away.

my cousin works for PA careerlink and she says they got a whole department just to handle these kinda glitches lol

That's the Interface Resolution Unit, and they only handle backend issues. Individual claimants still need to contact the UC Service Center for account-specific problems.

UPDATE: Issue RESOLVED! I followed the advice about checking my CareerLink data sharing settings and sure enough, that permission was turned off. I enabled it, then called UC using that Claimyr service (which actually worked really well). The agent confirmed they could now see my registration and manually cleared the red warning. She also noted my recall date exemption in my file to prevent future issues. Thanks everyone for your help! What a relief!

So glad you got it fixed in time! This system causes so much unnecessary stress.

Great to hear! Make sure to continue filing your weekly certifications as normal, even with the work search exemption.
