PA UC benefits at risk due to RESEA exemption confusion - urgent help needed
I'm completely panicking right now! Just received an email from PA UC saying I have until July 15th to explain why I didn't complete some mandatory RESEA career link activities. The thing is, I registered on the PA CareerLink site back in March, but never received ANY follow-up instructions or appointment info. When I log into my CareerLink account and check my status, it actually shows I'm EXEMPT from RESEA requirements! But now UC is threatening to stop my benefits??? I've been diligently doing my job search activities every week (5+ applications weekly through LinkedIn and directly on company websites). I've documented everything meticulously with screenshots. But I'm terrified they're going to cut off my benefits over this RESEA confusion when I'm already barely making rent and utilities. Has anyone dealt with this RESEA exemption issue before? Will they really stop my payment this week? And if they do, how long will it take to fix? I'm seriously about to have a breakdown over this.

•Did they stop your payments while this was being resolved? That's what I'm most worried about. I literally can't miss even one week of benefits right now.

RESEA is different from regular work search!! RESEA = Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment. Its a federal program PA uses where they pick random people for extra help/monitoring. If you got exempted thats actually GOOD news, means you dont have to do the extra stuff!!

•This is correct, but there seems to be a disconnect between the CareerLink system showing OP as exempt and the UC system still expecting participation. This happens when the systems don't sync properly. You need to take screenshots of your exemption status from CareerLink and upload them to your UC dashboard under 'Provide Additional Documentation.' Also respond to the email with those same screenshots.

My cousin works at the career center and she says sooo many people are having this same issue! The RESEA program and CareerLink systems aren't communicating right. Take screen shots of EVERYTHING.

This is actually a common issue with the PA RESEA program. Here's what you need to do immediately: 1. Take screenshots of your CareerLink account showing your exempt status 2. Draft a clear explanation stating you registered as required but were shown as exempt 3. Document all your job search activities from other platforms 4. Submit all this through both the UC portal AND by replying to the email 5. Keep claiming your weekly benefits as normal Most importantly, try calling the UC service center first thing tomorrow morning. They can often resolve this immediately once they see the exemption status in their system. Unfortunately, getting through on the phone is extremely difficult - that's where services like Claimyr (claimyr.com) can help connect you with an agent quickly. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 showing how it works. Many people on this forum have used it when facing time-sensitive issues like RESEA problems.

•Thank you for the detailed advice! I've already taken screenshots and started drafting my explanation. I'll definitely try calling first thing tomorrow but I've never been able to get through before. I'll check out that Claimyr service - at this point I'll try anything to get this resolved quickly.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE U FAIL!!!! I had the EXACT same problem last year and they DID stop my payments for THREE WEEKS!!!! And I had proof I was exempt too!!!! They don't care they just want reasons to deny benefits to hardworking people who paid into the system!!!!

•That sucks but not everyone has that experience. My RESEA thing got fixed in like 3 days when I called and explained. Probably depends on who u talk to tbh

I went through this exact situation back in January. The UC system and CareerLink don't communicate properly regarding RESEA exemptions. My payments weren't stopped, but I did have to clear up the confusion. The key is to call UC (yes, it's hard to get through) and clearly explain: 1. You registered as required 2. Your account shows you're exempt from RESEA 3. You've been completing weekly work search activities Have your screenshots ready to email while on the phone with them. In my case, they immediately removed the issue once they saw my exemption status. And definitely keep filing your weekly claims while this gets resolved.

•That's really reassuring to hear! I'll keep filing my weekly claims and will call first thing tomorrow. It's such a relief to hear they didn't stop your payments - that's been keeping me up at night.

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone at UC this morning using that Claimyr service someone recommended here. The agent confirmed I AM exempt from RESEA and there was a system error. They removed the issue on the spot and said my benefits won't be affected! Such a relief. For anyone with a similar problem - definitely get screenshots of your exemption status and call UC directly. The wait to get through normally is awful but worth it to get this fixed.

•Great to hear! This is exactly why documentation is so important when dealing with UC issues. Keeping records of everything has saved many people from benefit disruptions.
