call an agent and get the process in motion asap. they wont do ANYTHING til u deal with the overpayment. i went thru this exact thing last year

Make sure you APPEAL if you think the overpayment was a mistake! You only have a limited time to do this. I got hit with a $2400 overpayment and got it reduced to $600 after I proved some of their calculations were wrong.

It's ridiculous how they just cut people off without proper notification! I got a letter about my benefits being stopped THREE WEEKS AFTER they were already stopped. How is anyone supposed to plan for that? 🤬

Check if there's an option on your online account to set up a payment plan for the overpayment. Sometimes you can do it without even talking to anyone. Otherwise good luck getting through on the phone... took me 30+ calls over 3 weeks 😫

Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. NY unemployment has "lost" my docs twice. Take screenshots of everything you submit online too.

if u owe them money they act real quick but when they owe YOU money suddenly everything takes months. funny how that works huh
