When will August unemployment numbers be released by NYS Department of Labor?
Does anyone know when the NYS Department of Labor typically releases the monthly unemployment statistics? I'm specifically waiting for the August numbers to come out but can't find any official schedule on their website. I know they usually lag behind by a few weeks but wasn't sure if there's a regular pattern. Need this info for a research project I'm working on about employment trends in my county.

The NYS Department of Labor usually releases unemployment statistics around the third Friday of the following month. So August numbers would typically come out around September 20th, give or take a few days depending on federal holidays and data processing time. They coordinate with the Bureau of Labor Statistics for the release schedule.

You can also sign up for email alerts on the NYS Department of Labor website under their statistics section. They'll notify you when new unemployment data is published. The reports usually include county-level breakdowns which might be helpful for your research project.

•Great suggestion! I'll definitely sign up for those alerts. Do you know if they also include industry breakdowns in those reports?

•Yes, they typically include industry sector data as well as demographic breakdowns. Very comprehensive reports actually.

Just wanted to add that if you need help accessing any NYS Department of Labor data or services, I had good luck using Claimyr (claimyr.com) when I needed to get through to someone at the department quickly. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Made it much easier than trying to call during business hours when the lines are always busy.

Same here! Mid-September sounds right for August data release.
