I had trouble getting through to NYS Department of Labor on the phone when I needed to check my claim status last month. If you run into issues with your application or need to speak to someone, I found this service called Claimyr that actually got me connected to an agent. Check out claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Way better than sitting on hold for hours.
I had trouble reaching someone at NYS Department of Labor to verify my direct deposit setup was correct. Kept getting busy signals for days. Finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Was able to confirm my banking info was entered right and my next payment should come through direct deposit.
omg this is so accurate!!! my worker acted like she was doing me some huge favor just by looking at my file. meanwhile my rent is due and I haven't gotten paid in 6 weeks because of their stupid adjudication process
I think you're being a bit dramatic with the Lex Luthor comparison. These workers deal with hundreds of cases and have to follow federal and state regulations. The adjudication process exists to prevent fraud, which costs taxpayers millions. Maybe try approaching them with more patience and understanding of their constraints rather than assuming malicious intent.
I had the same issue trying to reach someone at NYS Department of Labor about my partial benefits calculation. The phone lines are impossible to get through. I ended up using this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually got me connected to an agent within a few minutes. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Saved me hours of calling and getting hung up on.
EXCESSIVE EARNINGS is such a scary term for something that just means 'we'll reduce your payment.' The NYS Department of Labor loves to make everything sound like you're committing fraud when you're just trying to survive and work part-time.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE YOU WAIT AND HOPE YOU GIVE UP!!! I had an employer who took 2 WEEKS to respond and NYS Department of Labor didn't do anything about it until I called and complained. Don't just sit there waiting - be proactive about following up!

•Wow that sounds frustrating. Did your claim eventually get approved after all that hassle?

To clarify the earlier question about weekends - yes, those 10 days include weekends and holidays. NYS Department of Labor counts calendar days, not business days, for employer response deadlines. Once that period expires without a response, the claim typically moves forward automatically unless there are other verification issues pending.

•Perfect, that means I should hear something by this Friday then. Thanks for clearing that up!
