What does processing - web mean on unemployment claim status in NYS Department of Labor?
I submitted my weekly claim certification yesterday through the my.ny.gov portal and when I check my claim status today it shows 'processing - web' next to my latest week. This is the first time I've seen this status and I'm not sure what it means. Usually my weekly claims just show 'released' after a day or two. Does anyone know if this processing - web status is normal or if there's something wrong with my claim? I'm worried they're going to hold up my payment for some reason.

Processing - web just means your weekly claim was submitted online through the web portal and is currently being processed by the NYS Department of Labor system. It's completely normal and indicates they received your certification. You should see it change to 'released' within 1-3 business days typically, then your payment will be issued.

•Thanks that's reassuring! I was worried something was flagged on my claim. How long does it usually take to go from processing to released?

Yeah I see that status all the time when I file my weekly claims online. The 'web' part just distinguishes it from claims filed by phone or other methods. Nothing to worry about - it's just showing the system is working on processing your certification and verifying your eligibility for that week.

I had the same thing happen last week and started panicking thinking they were reviewing my claim for some issue. Turns out it's totally normal - mine switched to released the next day and payment came through fine. The NYS Department of Labor system just shows different statuses as it moves through their processing pipeline.

•Same here, I see processing - web every time I certify online. Never had any issues with payments being delayed because of it.

If you're having trouble getting through to the NYS Department of Labor when you have questions about claim statuses like this, I found this service called Claimyr that helps you actually reach a live agent. Check out claimyr.com - they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. I used it when I needed to talk to someone about my adjudication status and actually got through instead of sitting on hold for hours.

•Interesting, I might need to check that out if I run into any issues. The phone lines are always so busy when I try to call.

The processing - web status is just part of their normal workflow. Once it clears processing, you'll see it change to released and then your payment will be deposited according to your usual schedule. Don't stress about it unless it stays in processing for more than a week - that would indicate a potential issue that might need follow-up.
