What does scheduled for processing mean on NYS Department of Labor unemployment claim?
I just checked my my.ny.gov account and my weekly claim certification shows 'scheduled for processing' instead of the usual approved status. This is the first time I've seen this message and I'm not sure what it means. I certified on Sunday like I always do and nothing seemed different about the questions. Does anyone know if this is normal or if there's something wrong with my claim? I'm worried my payment might be delayed.

Scheduled for processing usually means your claim needs additional review before payment can be released. This can happen for several reasons - maybe you answered a question differently than usual, or the system flagged something for verification. It doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem, but it does mean your payment might be delayed by a few days while they review it.

•I don't think I answered anything differently but maybe I missed something. How long does this review usually take?

same thing happened to me last week and my payment came through on Thursday instead of Tuesday, so just a couple days late

Check if you reported any work earnings or if there were any changes to your availability for work. Even small changes can trigger the scheduled for processing status. You can also look in your correspondence section to see if NYS Department of Labor sent you any messages about what they need to review.

•I did report some part-time work earnings this week - maybe that's why? I thought I filled it out correctly though.

•Yes, that's probably it. When you report earnings, they have to calculate your partial benefit amount and verify the information. As long as you reported everything accurately, your payment should process within a few business days.

This is so stressful! I hate when the system does this and doesn't explain why. Can't they just tell us exactly what's being reviewed instead of leaving us guessing? I've been waiting three days already and still nothing.

•I know the waiting is frustrating, but if you need to speak with someone at NYS Department of Labor about your claim status, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Saved me hours of trying to call on my own.

Usually resolves itself within 3-5 business days in my experience. The NYS Department of Labor system is pretty backed up but they do process these reviews eventually.

I've seen this happen quite a bit lately, especially when there are any changes to your usual certification pattern. The "scheduled for processing" status typically appears when their automated system can't immediately approve your claim and needs human review. Since you mentioned this is your first time seeing it, it's likely triggered by the part-time earnings you reported. The good news is that as long as you reported everything accurately, it should process within a few business days. Try not to stress too much - this is pretty routine for claims with earnings to report.

•Thanks for the reassurance! It's good to know this is routine when reporting earnings. I was panicking thinking I did something wrong, but it sounds like I just need to be patient. I'll keep checking my account over the next few days and hopefully it processes soon.

I've been through this several times over the past year. "Scheduled for processing" almost always means they're doing a manual review of something in your claim. Since you mentioned reporting part-time earnings, that's definitely the trigger - the system has to verify your work hours and calculate your partial benefits. In my experience, it usually takes 2-4 business days to clear. Don't worry, as long as you were honest about your earnings and availability, your payment will come through. Just keep an eye on your correspondence inbox in case they need any additional documentation from you.

•This is really helpful to hear from someone who's been through it multiple times. I was getting anxious about the delay but knowing it's just part of the normal process when reporting earnings makes me feel better. I'll definitely keep checking my correspondence section like you suggested. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I went through this exact same situation a few months ago when I started doing some freelance work while on unemployment. The "scheduled for processing" status appeared right after I reported my first week of earnings, and I was terrified I had messed something up. It took about 3 business days to process, but once it did, everything went smoothly. The key thing I learned is to be really precise when reporting your gross earnings and hours worked - even small discrepancies can cause delays. Also, make sure you're reporting earnings for the week you actually worked, not when you got paid. Once the system learns your pattern of part-time work, future certifications usually process faster. Hang in there!
