NYS Department of Labor claim showing 'processed' status - what does it mean when my unemployment claim says processed?
My weekly certification went through yesterday and now my NYS Department of Labor account shows my claim as 'processed' but I'm not sure what that actually means. Does this mean I'm getting paid or is there another step? This is my third week filing and the first two times it just said 'submitted' for days before anything happened. I'm really confused about what 'processed' means versus 'paid' or 'released' - can someone explain the difference? I haven't seen any deposit yet and I'm getting worried something went wrong.

When your claim shows 'processed' it means NYS Department of Labor has reviewed your weekly certification and determined you're eligible for that week's benefits. It's basically approved and now moves to the payment stage. You should see it change to 'released' within 1-2 business days, then the actual deposit depends on your payment method - direct deposit is usually next business day, debit card can take 2-3 days.

•Thank you! So processed is good news then? I was panicking thinking something was wrong since it's different from the first two weeks.

Yeah processed means you're all set. The status progression goes: submitted → under review → processed → released → paid. Once it hits processed you're basically in the clear unless there's some weird banking issue.

•this is exactly right, processed = approved for payment

I had the same confusion! Processed just means they've finished reviewing your certification and everything checks out. The payment usually follows pretty quickly after that status change.

If you're having trouble getting through to NYS Department of Labor for claim status updates, I used a service called Claimyr that helped me reach an actual agent when I couldn't get through on my own. They have a website at claimyr.com and there's a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Really saved me hours of trying to call and getting busy signals.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll keep that in mind if I run into issues later.

The "processed" status is actually a really positive sign! It means NYS DOL has completed their review of your weekly certification and approved your benefits for that week. You should see the status change to "released" soon, which means the payment has been sent to your bank or debit card. The timing can vary - direct deposit is usually faster (1-2 business days after "released") while the debit card can take a bit longer. Since this is your third week and the process seems to be moving faster than your first two weeks, that's actually a good indicator that your claim is running smoothly now.

•This is really helpful to know! I'm actually in a similar situation with my first claim and was wondering about the timeline differences. It's reassuring to hear that the process typically gets faster after the initial weeks. Do you know if there's any way to track when it changes from "processed" to "released" or do you just have to keep checking the portal?
