New York Unemployment: Got Monetary Benefit Determination Letter After Using Alternate Base Period - Approved?
Just got denied unemployment but reapplied using my alternate base period wages and received a Monetary Benefit Determination letter with claim date 10/07/2024. Not sure if this means I'm approved and if I'll get back pay? First time dealing with unemployment and really confused about what this means.

Getting the monetary determination letter just means you have enough wages to qualify. You still need to wait for them to review your case and make sure you qualify based on why you lost your job. Keep certifying weekly while you wait!

•it can take 2-6 weeks these days. just keep certifying and documenting your work search. you'll get backpay to your claim date if approved

I was stuck waiting forever until I found this site claimyr.com that calls unemployment for you and connects you when they get someone. Costs $20 but totally worth it to actually talk to someone and get answers. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

The monetary determination letter is basically step 1 of like 47 steps dealing with these clowns. Welcome to the circus 🤡

Here's what you need to know about NY unemployment claims and monetary determination: 1. The letter means you have enough wages to qualify 2. Keep certifying weekly no matter what 3. Document all work searches (min 3 per week) 4. If approved, you'll get backpay from claim date 5. Check your email/mail daily for requests 6. If you need answers fast, try claimyr.com to get through to an agent Took me 3 months to learn all this the hard way. Hope this helps!
