NYS DOL finally called me back about my claim status after weeks of trying to reach them
So I've been trying to check on my unemployment claim status for weeks now. It's been a nightmare getting through to anyone. This morning, out of the blue, I got a call from the unemployment office. They actually answered my questions about my claim! I think all those attempts to reach them might have flagged my case or something. Has anyone else experienced this? It's such a relief to finally get some answers.

Wow, that's awesome! I've been trying to get through for months. How many times did you call before they reached out to you?

•I honestly lost count lol. Probably called like 50 times over the past few weeks. It was driving me crazy!

•50 times?! 😱 That's insane. The system is so broken.

•Jeez, 50 times... I'm only at like 20 calls. Guess I gotta step up my game 😅

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

•I tried it too. Can confirm it works. Felt kinda weird paying for it, but man, the relief of finally talking to someone... 👌

Congrats on getting through! I'm still stuck in limbo. Been waiting for 6 weeks now with no update. Anyone know if there's a way to escalate the claim?

•I heard reaching out to your local state representative can help. They sometimes have connections to speed things up.

Y'all, I swear the unemployment system is designed to be this frustrating on purpose. They're hoping we'll just give up and stop claiming. 🙄

•Idk man, never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence. The system's just old and overloaded.

Here's what I've learned about getting through to unemployment after months of trying: 1. Call right when they open. Like, be dialing at 7:59:59 AM. 2. If you get a busy signal, hang up and immediately redial. Don't wait. 3. Try different phone numbers. Sometimes the 'overflow' lines have shorter waits. 4. Use the online chat feature simultaneously while calling. 5. Be persistent. It took me 3 weeks of daily attempts, but I finally got through. 6. Have all your info ready when you call. Claim number, dates, paystubs, everything. 7. Be polite to the rep when you get one. They're swamped and doing their best. 8. If all else fails, contact your state representative or senator's office. Hope this helps someone. Stay strong, y'all. We're all in this together. 💪

Anyone else notice that their claim status changed recently? Mine went from 'pending' to 'under review' last night.

Pro tip: if you're having trouble with the unemployment website, try using a different browser. Chrome works best for me.

I'm so fed up with this whole process. Been laid off for 2 months, bills piling up, and I can't even get a straight answer about my claim. Anyone else feeling like they're drowning?

•Hang in there, friend. We're all in the same boat. Have you looked into local food banks or rent assistance programs?

•Thanks for the support. Yeah, I've been using the food bank. Just feels never-ending, you know?

Congrats on finally getting through! That's such a relief after all that stress. I'm currently in week 3 of trying to reach them about my claim - seeing your post gives me hope that persistence really does pay off. Did they give you any timeline for when your benefits might start coming through? I'm trying to manage my expectations here but also need to know when I might see some financial relief. Thanks for sharing your experience!
