NYDOL Overpayment: When Will Regular Benefits Resume?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with NYDOL. I accidentally received an overpayment on my unemployment benefits and now I'm trying to figure out when I'll get my regular benefits again. Has anyone dealt with this before? I got a notice from them but I'm not sure what to do next. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, been there done that. It's such a headache dealing with overpayments. Have you tried calling them? That's usually the best way to get a straight answer.

•I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through. The lines are always busy 😫

•Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. Sometimes you can snag a spot in the queue that way.

•Calling is useless tbh. I spent hours on hold and got nowhere. Your better off sending a message through the online portal

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds sketchy. Is it legit? 🤔

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Here's what you need to know about overpayments with NYDOL: 1. First, don't panic. It happens more often than you'd think. 2. You'll need to repay the overpaid amount. They usually set up a payment plan. 3. Your regular benefits might be reduced until the overpayment is cleared. 4. If it wasn't your fault (like a NYDOL error), you can request a waiver. 5. Document EVERYTHING. Keep all notices and records of communication. 6. Be proactive - reach out to them ASAP to show you're trying to resolve it. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

•Thank you so much! This is really helpful. Do you know how long it usually takes for them to set up a payment plan?

•It can vary, but usually within 2-4 weeks after they process your overpayment notice. Keep checking your online account for updates!

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they post updates there before sending out notices.

•Keep checking daily. Their system is slower than molasses in January 🙄

I had this happen last year. It took about 6 weeks for my regular benefits to start up again after I agreed to the repayment plan. Hang in there!

•6 weeks? 😱 I hope mine doesn't take that long...

•Yeah, it sucked. But at least they backdated the payments once it was sorted out.

Make sure to appeal if you think the overpayment was a mistake! You have 30 days from the date on the notice.

Ive been waiting 3 months for them to process my appeal on an overpayment. The system is broken af

•3 months? That's insane! Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up.
