NYSDOL Backpay Delay: Any Tips to Speed Up Process or Reach a Rep?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to get my back pay sorted out with unemployment. I filed my claim a while ago but haven't received anything yet. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to speed up the process or get in touch with someone who can help? I've been calling the NYSDOL but no luck so far.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been in the same boat for weeks now. The system is so backed up, it's ridiculous. Have you tried calling right when they open at 8 AM? Sometimes that works better.

•I second this! Early morning calls are the way to go. Set ur alarm and be ready to dial at 7:59 👍

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Was desperate and took a chance. Got through in like 2 hours when I'd been trying for weeks.

•Can you explain more about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

•Yeah, basically they have a system that navigates the phone menu and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone and connects you. Saved me hours of frustration.

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster. Worth a shot!

omg the backpay situation is a NIGHTMARE. I've been waiting for 3 months now. Every time I call, they tell me 'it's processing' whatever tf that means 🙄

Here's what worked for me to get my backpay: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what they said. 2. Send a detailed email to NYSDOL explaining your situation. Include your claim ID and all relevant dates. 3. Follow up every week if you don't hear back. 4. If still no response after 2 weeks, contact your state senator or assembly member. They often have staff dedicated to helping with unemployment issues. 5. Be persistent but polite. The staff are overwhelmed too. 6. Check your online account regularly for any updates or requests for additional information. It took me about 6 weeks, but I finally got my backpay. Don't give up!

anyone else notice that the website is always down for 'maintenance' when you actually need to use it? 🙃

•Pro tip: try accessing the site using your phones web browser. Sometimes it works when the desktop version is down

I heard a rumor that they're clearing the backlog of claims from last year before processing new ones. Anyone know if there's any truth to this?

•I dunno about that, but it wouldn't surprise me. The whole system seems pretty arbitrary tbh

guys i think i figured it out. if you press 2, then 1, then 4, then sing the national anthem backwards, you get through to a real person instantly. trust me, my cousins friends neighbor works for NYSDOL
