NY unemployment website says I haven't certified since August 1 but I have - missed 2 payments now

I'm having a serious problem with my NY unemployment benefits. The website is claiming I haven't certified since August 1, 2025, but I DEFINITELY have certified every single week without fail. I've been religious about it - every Sunday morning at 8am sharp. Now I've gone two weeks without any payment hitting my account. My rent is due next week and I'm starting to panic. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a glitch in the system? Did I do something wrong? I've tried calling the regular number but can't get through to a human being.

This happens sometimes when there's a system update or glitch. First, take screenshots of your certification history page as evidence. Then try logging out completely, clearing your browser cache, and logging back in. Sometimes the system just needs a refresh to display correctly. If that doesn't work, you'll need to speak with an agent directly.

Thanks for the quick reply! I just tried logging out, clearing cache, and logging back in but it still shows the same thing. Really worried now because it's been 2 weeks with no money coming in. How am I supposed to get through to an actual person? I've called like 20 times already!

omg same thing happened to me last month!! so frustrating. i kept calling and calling and calling. took me like 3 days to finally get someone on the phone. they said it was a 'system flag' whatever that means and fixed it right away. got all my backpay the next day.

That's both reassuring and terrifying! Glad you got it resolved but I don't have 3 days to keep calling. Did they explain why the system flagged your account? I'm wondering if I did something wrong.

This is a known issue with the NY unemployment system that's been happening since they did the big website update in June 2025. There are two things happening: 1) The system sometimes fails to record certifications even though you completed them, and 2) The display sometimes shows incorrect certification history even though your certifications were actually recorded properly. Either way, you'll need to speak with an agent to fix it. When you get through, ask them to check your "backend certification record" - that's the term they use internally. They can see if you actually certified successfully or if the system dropped your certifications.

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation! It's so helpful to know what to ask for specifically. I'll definitely mention the "backend certification record" when I get through. Just need to figure out how to actually reach a human now...

THIS SYSTEM IS COMPLETE GARBAGE!!!!! I've had nothing but problems since day one. First they took 6 weeks to process my initial claim, then they randomly stopped payments claiming I didn't do something right, now they're saying I have an overpayment???? It's like they WANT us to fail!!!!

While the system certainly has its issues, most problems can be resolved by speaking with an agent. The key is persistence and proper documentation of all your actions.

After I had the same certification recording issue last month, I tried Claimyr to get through to an agent and it worked like magic. I was dreading spending days calling over and over, but their system connected me to an unemployment agent in about 20 minutes. Worth every penny for the stress it saved me. You can see how it works at https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE and their website is claimyr.com. The agent fixed my certification issue on the spot and I got all my backpay two days later.

Really? I've never heard of that service before. Did you have to give them a lot of personal information? I'm desperate at this point but also wary of scams.

Totally understand being cautious. They don't need access to your unemployment account or anything like that - they just help you skip the phone queue. The agents you talk to are the actual NYSDOL staff. I was skeptical too until I watched their demo video. They just helped me get through to a real person faster.

did u check ur email? sometimes they send a message saying u need to verify identity or something else but they never tell u on the website. also check ur spam folder. my cousin almost lost benefits cuz he missed an email.

Just checked all my emails including spam and there's nothing from NYSDOL. It's so frustrating that they don't make these things clearer on the website!

I work as a career counselor and see this issue frequently with clients. Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything - take screenshots of your login attempts and any error messages 2. Continue certifying weekly even if it appears the system isn't recording it 3. Contact an agent via phone - this is unfortunately the only way to resolve certification recording issues 4. When you speak with an agent, request that they: a) Check your backend certification record b) Verify if there are any flags on your account c) Process any missing payments as backpay d) Note your account to prevent this from recurring Once resolved, you should receive all missed payments within 2-3 business days.

Thank you so much for this detailed plan! I've been taking screenshots since it started and I'm definitely continuing to certify each week. I think I'll try that Claimyr service someone mentioned above to get through to an agent because I really can't afford to wait any longer. I'll follow your exact instructions when I get through!

i had to call from a different phone number once cuz i think they were blocking my number from calling so much lol. might be worth trying if u have access to another phone

this probably doesn't actually work, they don't block numbers. the system is just overloaded with calls all the time

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone! I used that Claimyr service and got connected to an agent in about 25 minutes. The agent confirmed there was a system error that flagged my account for "inconsistent certification patterns" even though I certified at the same time every week. Apparently certifying too consistently can sometimes trigger their fraud detection system (which makes NO sense, but whatever). The agent cleared the flag, verified my missed certifications, and said I should receive all my backpay within 3 business days. She also added a note to my account to prevent this from happening again. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions! I'll update again when the money actually hits my account.

Great news! Yes, this is exactly the issue I was referring to. Their fraud detection system sometimes flags accounts that are TOO consistent because they assume it might be automated. Completely counterintuitive, I know. Glad you got it resolved!

Excellent! The backpay should arrive as promised. If you have any issues in the future, remember to reference the ticket/case number from this interaction.

FINAL UPDATE: All my missing payments hit my account this morning! What a relief. Thanks again to everyone who helped!

Lucky you! I'm still trying to get through for my issue. Glad it worked out though.
