Missed first no pay week claim - now can't certify weekly benefits on New York Unemployment

Listen up cause this is important. If you miss certifying your waiting week, your claim basically gets stuck in limbo. The system isn't smart enough to handle this on its own. You absolutely MUST speak with a rep to fix this. They need to manually release the claim and backdate your certifications. Don't waste time with the automated system - it'll just keep telling you they're 'processing' forever. Your best bet is getting through to a live person asap. I'd recommend using claimyr.com to get through - way better than burning days trying to call yourself. Once you get someone, make sure they understand you missed the waiting week cert and need help releasing the claim. They might need to transfer you to a supervisor but stick with it.
