How to change NY unemployment direct deposit with forgotten ID.me email?

I need to update my bank account info for my NY unemployment payments but I'm stuck. When I try to login to change my direct deposit, the system asks me to verify through ID.me, but I can't remember which email I used when I set it up. I've tried all 3 of my emails but none work. Is there another way to verify my identity or recover my ID.me account? My payment is supposed to hit Friday and I NEED it to go to my new account. The old one is closed and I'll lose the money if they send it there!

The same exact thing happened to me last month! It's super frustrating. You'll need to call NYSDOL directly to speak with an agent who can help reset your ID.me access or manually update your direct deposit info. Fair warning though - I tried calling for 3 days straight and couldn't get through at all. Just busy signals or getting disconnected after waiting forever.

Ughhh that's what I was afraid of. Did you eventually get through? I've already tried calling twice today and couldn't get past the automated system.

try checking ur email folders for any old emails from ID.me, might show which email u used. sometimes its in spam or trash if u deleted it

Good idea! Just checked all my folders including spam but nothing from ID.me. I think I might have set it up over a year ago so emails probably got deleted by now.

You actually have a few options here: 1. Contact ID.me support directly at help.id.me - they can help recover your account if you provide verification docs like your driver's license. 2. Call NYSDOL at 888-209-8124 and explain the situation. They can sometimes bypass the ID.me requirement if you verify your identity directly with them. 3. If your payment does go to the closed account, don't panic! The bank will reject it and the funds will return to NYSDOL. Then you can update your info for the next payment. But this can take 5-7 business days. For anyone who needs to reach NYSDOL quickly, I strongly recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). It's a service that helps you bypass the phone queues and connect with an agent much faster. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE. Using this saved me hours of frustration when I had a similar issue with my direct deposit.

I'd be careful with option #3. When my payment went to a closed account, it took FOUR WEEKS to get the money back into the system! NYSDOL is so slow with handling returned payments. Their system is completely broken. If you need the money NOW you need to fix this before the payment goes out.

Has anyone tried that Claimyr thing? Seems fishy to me. How do they get you through when nobody else can get through??

I used it last week and it worked! Got through in like 20 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. Not sure how they do it but whatever magic they're working I'm grateful lol

Instead of trying to remember which email you used, try the ID.me account recovery option. Go to ID.me's website directly (not through NYSDOL) and click on "sign in" and then "trouble signing in?" They'll ask for your phone number which might be enough to recover access without needing the email. Worked for me when I was in a similar situation!

Thank you so much!! This actually worked! I was able to recover my account using my phone number, then updated my direct deposit info. You saved me a ton of stress and probably hours on the phone. For anyone else with this issue, this is definitely the way to go.

I wish I'd known about that recovery option! I ended up having to use Claimyr after days of failed calls. Was connected to an agent in about 25 minutes who manually updated my info. The $15 I paid was well worth it considering I would have lost a whole week's payment otherwise. But it's always better if you can solve it yourself for free like you did!
