If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

The whole system is designed to pay out as little as possible while making you jump through endless hoops. Even if you qualify for the maximum, they'll find ways to delay or reduce your payments. I've been fighting with them for weeks over some arbitrary adjudication issue that makes no sense.

Just wanted to add that the dependent allowance can really help if you have kids. I get an extra $200 per week for my two children on top of my regular benefit amount. Make sure you claim your dependents when you file - you can't add them later easily.

Good to know! I don't have kids but that's definitely something people should be aware of.

I had such a hard time getting through to NYS Department of Labor when I had questions about my claim status. The phone lines are always busy and the website chat never worked for me. I actually found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get connected to an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Saved me hours of calling and getting disconnected.

How much does something like that cost? Seems like it might be worth it if you really need to talk to someone.

It's definitely worth checking out if you're having trouble reaching them through normal channels. Much better than spending your whole day redialing.

The weekly claim questions are pretty straightforward - did you work, did you look for work, are you able and available to work, etc. Just answer truthfully. If you worked any hours that week you have to report it and they'll reduce your benefits accordingly but you might still get partial benefits depending on how much you earned.

This is really helpful, thank you! I feel like I understand the basics now.

The NYS Department of Labor system is so frustrating!!! I've been trying to understand my benefit calculation for weeks and every time I call I get different information. One person told me they use gross wages, another said they adjust for certain deductions. Which is it??

0 coins

They definitely use gross wages from your employer's quarterly reports. No adjustments for taxes or deductions. The confusion might be coming from different representatives explaining the base period selection differently.

0 coins

Quick question - do overtime hours count toward the calculation? I worked a ton of OT last summer.

0 coins

Yes, all reported wages including overtime count. As long as your employer reported it to NYS Department of Labor, it's part of your benefit calculation.

The whole system is so confusing honestly. I tried to file last year and got denied because apparently I didn't work enough hours even though I had two jobs. Then I had to appeal and it took FOREVER to get resolved. Make sure you double check everything before you submit because once it's in the system it's hard to fix mistakes.

ugh that sounds like a nightmare! sorry you had to go through all that

Don't forget you also need to file your weekly claims every week even if your initial claim is still being processed. A lot of people miss this and then lose out on benefits for those weeks. The weekly claim asks about any work you did that week and any income you received. You have to do this every single week to keep getting benefits.

0 coins

Good to know! So I should file my initial claim first and then start doing the weekly claims right away?

0 coins

Exactly! File your initial claim as soon as possible, then start filing weekly claims the week after. Don't wait for your claim to be approved or you'll miss out on those weeks.

The job search requirement questions always trip me up too. Like if I go to a job fair, does that count as one contact or multiple? And what about networking events or informational interviews?

0 coins

Job fairs typically count as one job search activity unless you have documented contact with specific employers. Networking events and informational interviews definitely count as long as they're related to finding employment in your field.

0 coins

The worst part about these weekly claim questions is that they never explain what happens if you get it wrong until AFTER you've already been disqualified or overpaid. The NYS Department of Labor system should give you warnings or explanations before you submit, not weeks later when they decide to audit your claim.

exactly! like why can't they just make the questions clearer instead of making us guess what they want
