Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. The ny unemployment system is GARBAGE for handling fraud 🤦♂️ My cousin waited 6 months for them to fix his fraud case! What finally worked was using claimyr.com to get thru to a supervisor (not just a regular agent) who could actually help. Regular agents just read from scripts and can't do anything useful for fraud cases.
100% worth it when you consider the alternatives. I spent literally 20+ hours trying to get through on my own. Then used claimyr and had a resolution within days. Time is money ya know?

Did you make any changes to your claim recently? Like updated your address or anything? Sometimes even small changes can trigger payment holds while they verify the new info.
Nope - haven't made any changes at all. That's what's so weird. It's been working perfectly fine until now.

Reading these stories is making me so anxious. I just filed my first claim last week and now I'm terrified. This system seems absolutely nightmarish.
If your claim is straightforward you might be fine! A lot of people posting are those with issues (selection bias). Good luck!
ProTip: Make sure you answer everything EXACTLY as they ask. One tiny inconsistency can flag your account for review and then you're stuck in limbo for months.
Unpopular opinion: sometimes it really is better to take any job and keep looking while employed. Being unemployed for too long creates a gap that makes it even harder to get hired later.
Depends on the field. In tech, taking a huge step down can actually hurt your chances at getting back to your level later.
that's fair - obviously everyone's situation is different. just sharing what worked in my experience

Quick tip: when you call, if you press 3, then 2, then wait 5 seconds and press 1, then 4 - it bypasses some of the menu options and gets you closer to a real person. Doesn't always work but has helped me get through faster a few times.

My sister is going through the same thing right now. She's on week 5 of waiting after ID.me verification. The worst part is she keeps calling and getting different answers each time - one person says it's almost done, next person says it hasn't even been looked at yet. Total failure of a system.
