I got so confused about all this unemployment stuff too when I lost my job. The base periods and calculations are like reading a foreign language sometimes lol. I was approved for benefits but then had this weird issue where they kept saying I needed to upload more documents. Anyway, totally off topic but just wanted to say I feel your confusion!
Update: You guys were right! I just certified for my first week on the new claim and it went through fine. The payment is already showing as 'released' in my payment history. Thanks everyone for the help and advice! Such a relief.
UPDATE: I finally got this resolved! I ended up using that Claimyr service that someone mentioned above, and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. The agent explained that when DSS had me file a new claim, it created a temporary security hold on my previous claim documents. They removed the hold while I was on the phone, and I was able to access and download my 1099G immediately afterward. For anyone else dealing with this: make sure to explain that DSS directed you to file a new claim. Apparently that's important for them to know when resolving this specific issue. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!
Great to hear you got it resolved! Thanks for updating the thread - this information will help others with similar issues. One thing to remember for future reference: whenever a government agency tells you to take an action that affects unemployment, always ask them specifically how it might impact your access to previous claims or documents. This kind of cross-system issue happens surprisingly often.
To address your follow-up question about benefit amounts: The 3 days of work shouldn't reset or significantly change his benefit amount. NY calculates benefits based on a base period that looks at several quarters of past earnings. A few days of work in 2025 would be a very small part of this calculation.\n\nOne important thing to note: If his previous unemployment claim expired, and he hasn't worked much since then, he may need to use what's called an \
Thank GOD they're getting rid of KeyBank!!! Worst customer service ever! I hope the new provider actually answers their phones!
Update: I was able to get my transaction history! I ended up following the advice to visit a KeyBank branch in person. The representative was really helpful and printed my complete history for free. For anyone else needing this, definitely try the in-person option if you can - it was much easier than dealing with phone systems. Thanks everyone for all your suggestions!

After using Claimyr, the agent explained to me that when you switch payment methods, the timing depends on where you are in the payment cycle. If you're just about to get paid (like within 48 hours), the change won't apply to that payment - it'll go to whatever method was active before. The change applies to the next payment cycle. Just wanted to clarify since there's some confusion in the responses.

•That's absolutely correct. The payment system locks your payment method about 48 hours before your benefit processes. Any changes made after that cutoff apply to the next payment cycle.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know I followed the advice here. I used Claimyr to reach an agent who confirmed my direct deposit will be active by Monday (just in time for next payment). They also said my replacement card is being expedited at no extra charge. Thank you all for your help!!

•Great! Glad it worked out. For future reference, it's always good to have direct deposit set up anyway - much more secure than the debit cards.
