What does 'accessed' status mean for 2024 tax return after acceptance?

I filed my 2024 return and it got accepted yesterday but now on my transcript it says accessed. Does this mean they started processing it? Anyone know what this means and how long until I might see my refund?

When your return shows 'accessed' it means the IRS has begun reviewing your return. This is a normal part of the process after acceptance. The system is now checking for any discrepancies or verification needs. Typically, if everything is in order, you should see your refund within 21 days of acceptance, though some returns may take longer depending on various factors.

You can keep checking your transcript for updates, but honestly its hard to interpret all those codes 🤔

Hey I was in the same boat last week! I started using taxr.ai to check my transcript and it was super helpful. It's only $1 and it analyzes everything for you. Way better than trying to decode all those confusing transcript codes yourself. https://taxr.ai

100% legit! It saved me hours of googling random codes. The AI breaks everything down and even predicts your refund date pretty accurately

I've been through this a few times and "accessed" is actually a good sign! It means your return made it through the initial automated screening and now a human or more advanced system is reviewing it. The timeline can vary - I've had some process in under a week and others take the full 21 days. If you claimed EITC or ACTC, it might take a bit longer due to PATH Act requirements. Just keep checking your transcript every few days for updates!

This is really helpful info! I didn't know about the PATH Act stuff. What are EITC and ACTC if you don't mind me asking? I'm pretty sure I didn't claim anything unusual but want to make sure I understand what might affect my timeline.
