WMR Tool Giving Error After Showing 'Return Received' for 2 Weeks
The system is definitely being updated you can't even access it. I went from 'Return received' for 2 weeks. Now when I enter the information it's telling me I've entered something wrong. They are probably adjusting my amount or something. Any thoughts?

This is actually pretty common during tax season. The IRS systems undergo routine maintenance, especially during peak filing periods. If you were able to see your status before and now it's giving an error, it could mean one of several things: 1. Your return has moved to the next processing stage 2. The WMR tool is experiencing technical difficulties 3. There could be updates happening to your return I'd recommend waiting 24-48 hours and trying again. The error message about entering something wrong is often a generic response when their system can't pull up your information during updates.

Are you entering the exact same information as before? Sometimes even a slight difference in the refund amount can trigger that error. Also, have you checked your tax transcript on the IRS website? That might give you more detailed information than WMR.

Yes I'm entering the exact same info as before! That's what's so weird. I haven't checked the transcript yet, I'll try that.

I had this EXACT same issue last week. WMR showed 'return received' for almost 3 weeks, then suddenly gave me the error message. I freaked out and tried using https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript instead. It showed my return was actually in the final processing stage with a DD date coming soon - WMR just wasn't updating correctly. The tool explained all the codes on my transcript that I couldn't understand before. Two days later my refund hit my account!

This happened to me too! Turned out they adjusted my refund amount slightly (I had made a small math error). Once they made the adjustment, the WMR tool wouldn't recognize my original expected refund amount anymore. Try checking your mail for any notices.

I'm dealing with this right now too. I tried calling the IRS for three days straight but couldn't get through because of 'high call volume.' Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. The agent confirmed they were just doing a standard review of my return and everything was fine. The WMR tool glitch is apparently happening to lots of people this tax season. Saved me days of stress wondering what was happening!

Did they say how long the review would take? I'm in a similar situation.

The agent said standard reviews are taking about 10-14 days right now. She mentioned it's not a full audit or anything serious - just part of their normal verification process during busy season.

The IRS systems are notoriously glitchy during peak filing season. I've worked in tax prep for years and see this all the time. Usually it resolves itself within a week. If you don't see any updates by next week, then it might be worth looking into further.
