TPG Account Not Updated Yet - Weekly Filer With No DDD

So I'm a weekly filer and don't have a direct deposit date yet. Is anyone else's TPG (Tax Preparation Group) account showing updates? Mine is still completely blank. šŸ˜… I keep checking like it's going to magically change if I stare at it long enough! First tax season since the divorce and I swear I'm more confused than when I had to figure out how to use the washing machine on my own...

TPG doesn't update until the IRS actually releases your refund. If you don't have a deposit date on your transcript yet, TPG won't show anything. This is normal. Check your transcript for cycle codes instead - that's the real indicator of where your return is in processing. TPG is just the middleman that holds your refund before sending it to your bank.

I've been tracking this pattern for exactly 7 years now. TPG typically updates their systems between 3pm and 6pm EST on Wednesdays for weekly filers, and between 1am and 4am EST on Fridays for those getting deposits. If you're a weekly with no DDD yet, you're looking at approximately 9-12 more days before seeing movement based on the current 2024 processing timelines. 78% of weekly filers without DDDs by this point see updates next Wednesday or the Wednesday after.

Thanks for the timeline! I've been refreshing mine like it's social media during a celebrity scandal šŸ˜‚ Good to know I'm not the only one staring at a blank screen!

Have you noticed any difference in TPG update patterns between people who claimed the Child Tax Credit versus those who didn't? Last year my TPG updated super late even though I had a DDD.

Oh my gosh, THANK YOU for breaking this down! I've been so stressed watching my account and wondering if something was wrong. This gives me some peace of mind knowing there's an actual pattern to the madness!

This is like waiting for water to boil while watching the pot! I had no idea the IRS refund system was as complicated as trying to explain the plot of Inception to my grandmother. Your timeline makes so much more sense than anything I've found online.

I might be in the minority here, but after waiting for almost two weeks with no updates, I got tired of checking TPG and decided to call the IRS directly. It was probably the most frustrating experience ever - spent about 2 hours on hold before getting disconnected. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got through to an actual person in about 30 minutes. The agent confirmed my return was still processing but that there weren't any issues that would delay it further. At least I could stop obsessively checking TPG knowing nothing was wrong.

Just a heads up - I've been researching this extensively. As of March 26, 2024, many TPG users are experiencing delayed updates due to their system maintenance that started on March 24th. Their official statement indicates updates should resume by March 28th. This is affecting approximately 17% of users according to their support forum. If you filed with a major tax prep company that uses TPG, you might be caught in this temporary delay.

What you're experiencing is related to the TPG API refresh cycle that occurs in conjunction with the IRS Master File processing. When your transcript shows a Transaction Code 846 with a corresponding DDD, TPG's system will typically update within 24-48 hours. Without the TC 846, TPG has no refund information to display in their portal. The IRS processing queue currently has a backlog for weekly filers, particularly those who filed between February 5th and March 1st, due to verification protocols implemented this tax season. Your TPG account will remain empty until the IRS releases your refund information to them.

So if I'm understanding correctly: ā€¢ No DDD on transcript = no TPG update ā€¢ Need TC 846 before TPG shows anything ā€¢ Weekly processing means waiting for next cycle Is there any way to know which processing cycle I'm in? My transcript has been saying N/A for weeks.

I think I've been checking my TPG account too often then... Do you know if there's any downside to logging in multiple times a day? I'm a bit worried about getting locked out of my account if I check too frequently.

Word of warning - don't rely 100% on TPG for accurate info. Last yr my TPG showed $0 for days after my DDD, but $ actually hit my bank acct on time. Their sys was just behind. OTOH, friend had TPG showing full refund amt but then got hit w/ offset he didn't know about, and actual deposit was way less. TPG doesn't always know about offsets, garnishments, etc. Best to check WMR and transcripts directly, TPG is just middleman.

This is absolutely correct. According to Internal Revenue Code section 6402(d), the Bureau of Fiscal Service is required to offset refunds for certain debts, and these offsets may not be reflected in third-party processor systems like TPG in a timely manner. I was impressed by how quickly my bank processed the deposit once it cleared TPG, though - less than 4 hours!

Just wanted to share some good news - my TPG finally updated this morning! I'm a weekly filer, no DDD until yesterday, and TPG was completely blank until about 3 hours ago. Now it shows my full refund amount as pending! Based on past experience, the money should hit my actual bank account in the next 24-48 hours. Hang in there - it's coming!
