SBTPG Date Changed from 2/26 to 2/25 - Will My Chime Deposit Come Early?
So I've been tracking my refund like a hawk since filing (first tax season post-divorce is a doozy, folks). I noticed something weird over the weekend. My SBTPG portal showed a deposit date of 2/26, which matched my official DDD from the IRS. But when I checked again this morning, it now says 2/25 instead. Anyone else seeing date changes on Santa Barbara TPG? I'm wondering if this means my refund will hit my Chime account tomorrow instead of Tuesday? This would be a much-needed win after the year I've had. I've documented every single change in this process because my ex somehow managed to complicate even our separate filing status. š

Ugh, the SBTPG date changes drive me CRAZY every tax season! Here's what's happening: SBTPG often adjusts the dates in their system when they're preparing to release funds slightly earlier than the official IRS direct deposit date. The date change from 2/26 to 2/25 is actually a GOOD sign - it typically means they're processing your payment a day earlier than originally scheduled. With Chime specifically, you'll likely see the deposit hit your account tomorrow since they're known for releasing funds as soon as they receive the payment notification, not waiting for the official posting date. I've seen this pattern repeat for three years now and it's infuriating how little transparency there is in the process!

I can explain exactly what's happening with your SBTPG date change. Here's the process: 1. The IRS sends your refund to SBTPG with the official 2/26 date 2. SBTPG receives the pending transfer today (or late yesterday) 3. They update their system to show the actual processing date (2/25) 4. They deduct any tax prep fees you owe 5. They initiate the transfer to Chime Since Chime is known for making funds available as soon as they receive the ACH notification (rather than waiting for the official posting date), there's a very good chance you'll see your deposit tomorrow. I've tracked hundreds of these patterns on tax forums, and the date change is consistently a positive indicator of early processing.

I'm seeing the exact same thing with my SBTPG account - changed from 2/26 to 2/25 when I checked at 8:30am today. My concern is whether this means they're actually processing it early or if it's just a system update. On January 17th this year, I tried calling SBTPG directly to ask about a similar date change and spent 2 hours on hold before giving up. Has anyone had success getting through to them? I eventually used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to reach an IRS agent about my transcript, and they confirmed the payment was sent but couldn't tell me anything about SBTPG's process. I'm worried about planning around this new date if it's not reliable.

This happened to me last week - my date changed from 2/19 to 2/18, and I bank with Chime too. I received my deposit around 3pm on 2/18. Back in 2023, I had the exact same experience but with different dates. From what I understand, SBTPG receives the funds from IRS, then they process and forward them to your bank. The date change usually indicates they've received the money and are processing it for release. Chime typically makes funds available as soon as they receive the notification, which is why you might get it a day early. Just be aware that sometimes it can take until late evening for Chime to process the incoming transfer.

I was so confused by this same thing last year! My date changed twice and I had no idea what was happening. I ended up using https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript alongside the SBTPG portal. It explained that the date change usually means they're initiating the payment process earlier than expected. Compared to my boyfriend's experience with a traditional bank, Chime definitely made the funds available faster. I was so relieved when the deposit hit a day early - was literally down to my last $20. Hope you get yours tomorrow too!

Let me clarify a few things about SBTPG date changes for everyone: ā¢ The initial date (2/26) is the IRS official direct deposit date ā¢ The updated date (2/25) is when SBTPG has received your funds and is processing them ā¢ Chime users typically see deposits 24-48 hours earlier than traditional banks ā¢ SBTPG must first: - Receive the funds from IRS - Deduct any tax preparation fees - Process the remainder to your bank I understand how stressful this waiting period can be, especially after a divorce when finances are already complicated. The date change is generally a positive sign, but the exact timing of when Chime makes it available can vary throughout the day.

My SBTPG date changed from 2/12 to 2/11 last week, and my Chime deposit hit at 1:42pm on 2/11! Did your WMR status also update to show the refund was sent? And have you checked your transcript to see if there are any codes that might explain the date change? I was checking my bank account literally every hour that day because I was so anxious about it arriving early.
