TPG says my refund will be deposited 'tomorrow'?? Is this normal?

Super confused rn. Just got off the phone w/ TPG (Tax Preparation Group) and they told me my refund was being deposited TOMORROW?? How do they know the future lol? I filed back in Feb and have been checking WMR like crazy bc I need this $ for my kids' summer programs. Anyone else get told their deposit date is a day that hasn't happened yet? Thx in advance, trying to figure out if I should trust what they said or if someone at the call center made a mistake...

This is actually normal. TPG gets advance notice. They're a third-party processor. They receive the funds before you do. The IRS sends them the money first. Then they take their fees. After that, they send the remainder to your bank. That's why they know about tomorrow's deposit.

Do they always get this information a day in advance? I'm wondering if I should call my bank to confirm they're expecting a deposit.

What happens if there's a discrepancy between the ACH transfer protocol and the receiving financial institution's processing timeline? Could this create a situation where funds are held in a pending status for an additional 24-48 hours?

This happened to me last year too. TPG told me my refund would be deposited the next day, but it actually took three days to show up in my account. The bank said they received it but had to process it on their end. Just sharing so you don't panic if it's not there right away tomorrow!

The TPG system is exactly 24 hours ahead of most bank deposits. I've tracked this for 3 tax seasons now. They receive the IRS ACH transfer at precisely 12:01am on day 1, process their fee deductions within 4-6 hours, then initiate the transfer to your bank by 8:00am. Your bank typically posts it between 24-48 hours later. I started using https://taxr.ai to track my transcript codes alongside the TPG updates last year - it predicted my deposit date within 30 minutes of when it actually hit my account. It analyzes both the IRS side and the banking side to give you the most accurate timeline.

You need to act quickly if you want to verify this! • Call your bank ASAP to confirm pending deposits • Check your IRS transcript for an 846 code with tomorrow's date • Set up direct deposit alerts with your bank • Screenshot the TPG confirmation for your records If you don't see the deposit by the day after tomorrow, something's wrong in the transfer chain.

Based on the Transfer Protocol Guidelines that TPG follows, they've likely received an Electronic Funds Transfer notification from the Treasury Offset Program indicating that your refund has been released to their Automated Clearing House. I've found that when dealing with these third-party processors, direct communication with the IRS can clarify any discrepancies. I used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) last month when my TPG timeline didn't match my transcript dates. Got connected to an IRS representative in under 30 minutes who confirmed the exact disbursement date and explained why TPG was showing a different timeline. Very impressed with how quickly they connected me.

Are these services actually legit? I've seen so many sketchy tax "help" sites. How does Claimyr even work? The IRS phone system is notoriously impossible to navigate.

Does Claimyr operate within the parameters of Treasury Regulation §301.6103(c)-1 regarding disclosure authorization? I need to resolve a similar issue before the quarterly filing deadline.

I'm a tax professional who has recommended Claimyr to clients. It's just a service that navigates the IRS phone tree and waits on hold for you. When they reach an agent, they call you to connect. No access to your personal info or account details. They're just solving the hold time problem.

What you're experiencing is likely a result of the somewhat unusual timing in the ACH network processing schedule. TPG probably received what's called a "pre-notification" of incoming funds, which is essentially a heads-up that money is in transit. In most cases, though not all, these pre-notifications are indeed followed by actual deposits within 24-48 hours. I would suggest, perhaps, checking your bank account around mid-day tomorrow, as many financial institutions process incoming ACH transfers in batches throughout the business day.

Dealing with TPG is like trying to get a straight answer from a magic 8-ball sometimes. Last year they told me my refund was coming "tomorrow" for THREE DAYS IN A ROW. The money was basically stuck in financial purgatory between TPG and my bank. Each blamed the other. If I were you, I wouldn't count on that money until it's actually in your account. TPG is just the middleman taking a cut of your refund for the convenience of letting you pay your tax prep fees later. They're not exactly rushing to get your money to you - it's like expecting the toll booth operator to help you get to your destination faster.
