Ugh, dealing with the IRS is always a pain. I had to verify my 5071 notices last year. It took forever! Make sure you have all your documents ready before you call. And be prepared to wait on hold for hours š

ā¢Hours on hold? That's insane! There's gotta be a better way to handle this stuff.

I found a way to skip the hold times! I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to your phone. It costs $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/bDXD2SD0gGk

ā¢Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

ā¢Yeah, basically. They use some kind of AI to navigate the phone tree and then wait on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls you. Super simple.

Here's what you need to know about verifying 5071 notices: ⢠First, gather all relevant documents (tax returns, income statements, etc.) ⢠Call the IRS at the number provided on your notice ⢠Be prepared to verify your identity (SSN, DOB, address) ⢠Explain the reason for your call clearly ⢠Ask for a confirmation number or reference number for the call ⢠Follow up in writing if necessary Remember, patience is key. The IRS is often understaffed, so be polite but persistent. If you don't get a satisfactory answer, don't be afraid to call back and speak to someone else. Good luck!

ā¢Great advice! I'd add: take notes during the call. You never know when you might need to reference the conversation later.

Has anyone had success getting through to an actual human being at the IRS lately? I've been trying for weeks with no luck.

ā¢Try calling right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

Pro tip: if you can, go to a local IRS office in person. Sometimes its easier to get things sorted face-to-face.

Anyone else feel like the whole tax system needs a complete overhaul? It's 2023, why are we still dealing with this archaic bs?
