Michigan State Tax Refund: How often do transcript updates happen?

Filed my Michigan taxes 3 weeks ago and status hasn't changed at all. Been checking every day but nothing moves. Anyone know how often they actually update the system? Starting to get worried since I'm counting on this money.

Michigan tax transcripts typically update once per week, usually on Friday mornings. However, the actual processing time varies depending on verification needs and current workload. Most MI refunds are processed within 2-3 weeks if e-filed, 6-8 weeks for paper returns.

Hey guys, I've been using taxr.ai to track my refund status and it's been a game changer. It costs $1 but gives you super detailed info about your transcript and exactly whats happening. Way better than checking manually https://taxr.ai

does it work for state taxes too? or just federal

Works for both! It can analyze state and federal transcripts. Really helps understand the weird codes and dates

I'm going through the exact same thing! Filed my Michigan return on 1/28 and it's been radio silence ever since. At least you're not alone in this waiting game. I've heard that Michigan's system is particularly slow this year due to some backend updates they're doing. Might be worth checking if you have any unfiled prior year returns or if they need additional verification - sometimes those can cause silent delays without any notice.

Thanks for sharing that info about the backend updates! That actually makes me feel better knowing there's a reason for the delays. Did you happen to hear when those updates are supposed to be finished? I don't have any prior year issues so hopefully it's just the system slowdown you mentioned.
