Just Verified My Identity In Person Today - How Long Until Updates?
So I went in person today (April 16, 2024) to verify my identity. How long does it take like who's went in and verified their identity? And how long does it take for you to update? I'm trying to learn the timeline since this is my first time dealing with identity verification. Really hoping to see some movement on my return soon!

In-person verification usually processes faster than online verification. Most people see updates within 9-14 days, compared to the 21+ days for online ID verification. If you verified at a TAC office like I did in February, your transcript might update even sooner - sometimes in as little as 5-7 days. Just make sure you check both WMR and your transcript, as sometimes one updates before the other.

When I had to do in-person verification last year, the wait time was driving me insane. Felt like watching paint dry... but with higher stakes! 😂 If you need to check on the status but can't get through to the IRS (which is basically everyone right now), I'd recommend using Claimyr (https://claimyr.com). They'll connect you to an actual human at the IRS without the 2-hour hold music torture. I used it after waiting 10 days with no updates and found out my verification was processed but stuck in the next queue.

I'm... not sure about using third-party services to reach the IRS. Couldn't that potentially create more complications? It seems like it might be better to just follow the official channels, even if it takes longer. Has anyone confirmed this is actually legitimate and not causing issues?

I did in-person verif back in March. Took exactly 9 days for WMR to update, then another 4 days for DDD. Tbh the ID verify is just the 1st step. After that ur return goes back into normal processing. If u had any credits like EIC or CTC it might take longer bc of PATH Act. Def check ur transcripts daily around 3-6am EST, that's when they usually update. GL!

When my return was stuck after identity verification, I couldn't make sense of the transcript codes that started appearing. Used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it explained all the TC 570/971 combination codes that showed up. The analysis showed my return was actually progressing normally through post-verification processing despite the hold codes. Helped me understand the Verification Queue Transition Period that happens after successful ID verification.

In my experience from 2023, calling the IRS directly after verification speeds things up. Last year I verified on March 12th, called on March 18th, and my refund was approved on March 20th. The rep can confirm if your verification was properly recorded in their system. Don't just wait around like I did in 2022 when my verification sat unprocessed for 6 weeks before I called!

Which number did you call specifically? The regular customer service line or the dedicated identity verification line? And did you have to provide any specific information about your verification appointment when you called?

Does this actually work for everyone? Or did you just get lucky with a helpful agent?

I tried calling after my verification last month and couldn't get through on any of the numbers listed on the IRS website. Kept getting the "high call volume" message and disconnected. Ended up just waiting and my refund appeared 12 days after verification without any intervention.

Thank you for sharing this approach! I've been stressing about what to do after my verification appointment tomorrow. It's so helpful to hear about different strategies that have worked for others. ❤️

Mine took 8 days. Verified on February 6th. Transcript updated February 14th. Refund deposited February 16th. No issues. No calls needed. Just patience. System works. Eventually.

I can't tell you how relieved I am to read this! I just did my verification yesterday and have been frantically googling timelines. I was worried I'd have to wait months like some horror stories I've read. Your straightforward experience gives me hope that the system actually does work sometimes. Thanks for sharing!
