IRS notification received but call dropped - How to reach them?
Hey everyone, I just got a notification from the IRS but my call dropped when I tried to reach them. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm worried about missing important information. Any advice on how to get through to them?

Ugh, classic IRS. Their phone system is a nightmare. I've been trying to get through for weeks. Good luck!

•Yeah, I've tried everything. Early morning, late evening, different days of the week. No luck so far. 🤷♂️

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Jc9x-gysK0

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20? Thats kinda steep for something that should be free...

•I get the skepticism, but after wasting hours on hold, it was worth it for me. Saved me a ton of time and stress.

•How long did it take for them to call you back?

•It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still faster than doing it yourself tho!

Have you tried checking your online account? Sometimes they post notifications there too. Might save you the hassle of calling.

I'm in the same boat, OP. Got a notification last week and I've been trying to reach them ever since. The whole system is broken af 🤬

Here's what I've learned from dealing with the IRS for years: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it's frustrating. 2. Try calling right when they open or just before they close. 3. Have all your documents ready before you call. 4. Be polite to the agent when you finally get through. 5. Take notes during the call, including the agent's ID number. 6. If possible, use their online tools to supplement phone communication. 7. Consider getting professional help if your issue is complex. Hope this helps! Don't give up, OP!

•Wow, thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try calling at different times. Do you know what their busiest days are?

•In my experience, Mondays and Tuesdays tend to be the busiest. Mid-week is usually better. Good luck!

Have you tried reaching out to your local Taxpayer Advocate Service? They might be able to help if you're having trouble getting through to the IRS directly.

@Brady Clean mentioned the Taxpayer Advocate Service - that's actually a great suggestion! I used them last year when I was stuck in a similar situation. They're like a lifeline when the regular IRS channels aren't working. You can find them at taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov or call 1-877-777-4778. They're specifically designed to help when you're having problems getting through normal channels. Worth a shot before paying for third-party services!

•This is super helpful! I had no idea the Taxpayer Advocate Service existed. Thanks for sharing the phone number and website - definitely going to try this before spending money on third-party services. Have you found them to be pretty responsive when you contacted them?
