IRS keeps hanging up! How to actually get through for tax refund?
I've been trying to get my tax refund for weeks now. Every time I call, they keep ending my calls. It's so frustrating! Has anyone else had this problem? Any tips on how to actually get through to a real person?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been dealing with the same issue for over a month now. It's like they're purposely avoiding us or something. 🤬

•Same here! I swear they have some kinda system to just hang up on ppl after a certain time. Its ridiculous

•I heard they're understaffed. Still doesn't excuse the poor service tho 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Jc9x-gysK0

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

•Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. Got through in about 2 hours.

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! 😤

Pro tip: Try calling right when they open. I managed to get through after only a 30-minute wait last week.

Has anyone tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes publicly shaming them works wonders lol

•I tweeted at them every day for a week. They finally DM'd me and sorted it out. Worth a shot! 🤷♂️

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call early in the morning, like 5 minutes before they open 2. If you get put on hold, DO NOT hang up no matter what 3. Have all your info ready - they'll ask for your SSN, filing status, etc. 4. Be super polite - the person answering isn't responsible for the wait 5. If all else fails, contact your local representative. They can sometimes expedite things Hope this helps someone! Took me weeks to figure this out.

•The local rep tip is gold! They helped me resolve an issue last year when I couldn't get through.

•Preach! 🙌 It's our money, not theirs. This whole process is a joke.

I've been dealing with this exact same issue! What finally worked for me was calling the practitioner priority line at 1-866-860-4259 instead of the main number. Even though it's technically for tax professionals, they sometimes transfer you to the right department and the wait times are way shorter. Also, if you press 2-1-3-2 in the phone menu, it usually gets you to a human faster than going through the automated system. Don't give up - I know it's frustrating but you'll get through eventually!

•Wait, is it okay to use the practitioner line if you're not a tax professional? I don't want to get in trouble or anything, but I'm desperate at this point! Have you or anyone else had issues with using that number?
