IRS Refund Delayed: Transcript Shows 3/19 Deposit Date But No Money Yet - What To Do?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my tax refund. My IRS transcript shows it was supposed to be deposited on 3/19, but I still haven't received it. I've checked my bank account and even called the bank, but they say they haven't gotten anything yet. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do next?

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. Its so frustrating! Have you tried calling the IRS directly? Sometimes they can give you more info than whats on the transcript.

I've been trying to call them, but I can never get through. It's like hitting a brick wall every time 😫

Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have to wait on hold for a while, but at least you'll get in the queue.

Good idea! I'll try that tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? No way, I'd rather wait on hold for free.

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny IMO.

How long did it take for them to get someone on the line?

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was ready.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your transcript for any additional codes after the 846. Sometimes they'll add a hold or offset after the initial release date. 2. Make sure your bank info is correct on your return. Even a small typo can cause major delays. 3. If you filed jointly, check both SSNs for any issues. Sometimes one spouse's old debts can hold things up. 4. Be patient. The IRS is still catching up from the pandemic backlog. It sucks, but sometimes it just takes time. 5. If it's been more than 21 days since your transcript showed the 846 code, definitely call them. Use the taxpayer advocate service if you're having trouble getting through. Hope this helps! I swear the IRS is run by a bunch of 🤡🤡🤡 How hard is it to send people their own money back?

Preach! 👏👏👏

To be fair, they're dealing with millions of returns. But yeah, the system could use an upgrade.

Quick question - did you claim any credits like the Earned Income Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit? Those can delay refunds.

0 coins

Nope, didn't claim any special credits. Just a standard return.

Hmm, that's odd then. Definitely worth giving them a call to see what's up.

Plot twist: the IRS actually owes you MORE money and they're recalculating your refund. Happened to me last year!

Don't get OP's hopes up lol. But man, wouldn't that be nice? 🤑

Anyone else think its weird that we have to do all this work just to pay taxes? Like, they already know how much we owe, why make us guess?

0 coins

Lobbyists from tax prep companies, that's why. They make bank off our confusion.

For real. Other countries just send you a bill or a refund. No muss, no fuss.

Hey OP, any updates? Did you manage to get through to anyone?

0 coins

Not yet, but I'm gonna try calling first thing tomorrow morning. I'll keep you guys posted!
