IRS Refund Delay: How to Check Transaction Codes on Tax Transcript?
Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with my tax refund. It's been delayed and I'm not sure why. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking about checking my IRS tax transcript to see if there are any transaction codes that might explain what's going on. Any advice on how to read these codes or what to look for would be really helpful!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been waiting on my refund for weeks now. It's so frustrating. Have you tried using the 'Where's My Refund' tool on the IRS website? Sometimes that can give you a bit more info.

ā¢Yeah, I've checked that tool like a million times š© It just says 'Your refund is still being processed.' Not very helpful tbh

I had a similar issue last year. Here's what I learned about reading IRS transcripts: ⢠Look for code 846 - that's the refund issued code ⢠Code 570 means there's a hold on your account ⢠971 is a notice issued ⢠420 means your return is being audited Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more info on any of these.

Have you guys heard about the massive backlog at the IRS? I read somewhere they're still processing millions of returns from last year. We might be in for a long wait š

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at the IRS. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://www.claimyr.com

ā¢Sounds kinda sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

ā¢I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. I was desperate after waiting on hold for hours and this saved me so much time. Worth every penny imo

Has anyone tried contacting their local Taxpayer Advocate Service? I've heard they can sometimes help with refund delays if you're experiencing financial hardship.

Pro tip: If you're expecting a big refund next year, consider adjusting your withholdings instead. It's basically giving the government an interest-free loan otherwise!
