IRS Transcript Shows Code 570 - What Does This Mean for My Refund?

Hey everyone, I just checked my tax transcript and noticed a code 570 on it. Does anyone know what this means? I'm worried about my refund being delayed. Has anyone else dealt with this before?

Ugh, I've been there. Code 570 usually means 'additional account action pending.' It's basically the IRS saying they need more time to review your return. Could be for a bunch of reasons - math errors, identity verification, or just random selection for review. It sucks, but hang in there!

Yep, this is spot on. I had the same thing last year and it took about 6 weeks to resolve. Just gotta be patient 😩

6 weeks?! I've been waiting for 3 months now with this code. The IRS is a joke 🤔

Damn, 3 months is rough. Have you tried calling them? I know its a pain but sometimes that can help speed things up

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at the IRS. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 to talk to the IRS? No thanks, I'd rather wait on hold for free šŸ™„

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Here's what I know about code 570: • It's an indicator that the IRS has frozen your account temporarily • This could be due to various reasons like income verification, identity checks, or potential adjustments • Usually followed by code 571 when the freeze is released • Can delay your refund by weeks or even months • Sometimes resolves on its own, other times you may need to contact the IRS Best advice: Keep checking your transcript weekly for updates. If you see no movement after 4-6 weeks, try contacting the IRS directly.

Has anyone tried faxing their documents to the IRS? I heard it can sometimes speed up the process.

What year is it, 1995? Who even has a fax machine anymore? šŸ˜‚

Actually, there are online fax services that make it pretty easy. Might be worth a shot!

Pro tip: Check if your local Taxpayer Advocate Service office is open. They can sometimes help if you're experiencing financial hardship due to the delay.

Code 570 is definitely frustrating - I'm going through the same thing right now. From what I've learned, it just means your return is under review and they've temporarily frozen any refund processing. The good news is that it doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem with your return, just that they need more time to process it. I've been checking my transcript every Friday and haven't seen any movement yet, but trying to stay patient. Hang in there!

Thanks for the encouragement! It's reassuring to know I'm not alone in this. How long have you been waiting so far? I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard when you're counting on that refund money šŸ˜…
