IRS Transcript Codes 570 and 971 - Refund Delay Help Needed
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a refund delay and I noticed codes 570 and 971 on my IRS transcript. Anyone else experiencing this or know what these codes mean? I'm getting worried about when I'll see my refund.

Ugh, those codes are the worst! 570 is usually an audit hold and 971 means they sent you a notice. I had the same thing happen to me last year. It took about 2 months to resolve. Hang in there!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at the IRS. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/UiAegRQ2Is8

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work?

ā¢It's legit! You just enter your phone number on their website, pay the fee, and they start calling. When they get an agent, your phone rings and you're connected. Saved me hours of hold time.

ā¢I get the skepticism, but when you're desperate to talk to someone, it's worth it. Plus, time is money, right? š¤·āāļø

Here's what I know about these codes: ⢠570: Indicates additional review of your return ⢠971: Means a notice has been issued Usually, this combo means they found a discrepancy or need more info. Check if you received any letters from the IRS. If not, you might want to call them (good luck with that lol) or check your transcript for updates. Some possible reasons for the hold: - Math errors on your return - Missing information - Identity verification needed - Suspected fraud (don't panic, it's often a false alarm) Keep an eye on your transcript for code 571, which means the hold was released. After that, you should see code 846 with your refund date. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

Pro tip: If you're really in a bind, contact your local congressman's office. They have liaisons who can sometimes cut through the red tape and get answers from the IRS faster than we mere mortals can.
