What does IRS Code 570 mean on transcript? Additional account action pending

Just checked my transcript and saw code 570. What does this mean for my refund? Getting worried since I filed back in January and still nothing.

Code 570 means there's an additional account action pending - basically the IRS has frozen your refund temporarily. This could be for various reasons: they might need to verify some information, there could be a math error, or they might be reviewing your credits. Don't panic though, it's pretty common.

How long does this usually last? im freaking out cause I really need this money

It varies, could be a few weeks to a few months. Best thing to do is keep checking your transcript for updates or new codes

Hey guys instead of playing detective with these codes, I've been using taxr.ai and it's been a game changer. It costs $1 but it analyzes your entire transcript and tells you exactly what's going on and when to expect your refund. Check it out at https://taxr.ai

100% works. I was confused about my 570/971 combo but the AI broke everything down and even predicted my DDD accurately!

Check if you got a 971 code too. If you have both usually means theyre sending you a letter explaining whats wrong

Code 570 can definitely be stressful when you're waiting for your refund! I went through the same thing last year. The key is to keep monitoring your transcript weekly for any updates or new transaction codes. Sometimes it resolves faster than expected, other times it can drag on. Since you filed in January, you're still within the normal processing timeframe even with the hold. Try not to stress too much - most 570 codes do get resolved eventually, it's just the waiting game that's brutal.

Thanks for the reassurance! It's good to hear from someone who's been through this. I'll definitely start checking every Friday like you suggested. Did you get any other codes after the 570 or did it just disappear when they resolved it?

I feel your pain! I had code 570 on my transcript for about 6 weeks last year and it was nerve-wracking. In my case, it turned out they were just verifying my dependent info since I claimed my daughter for the first time. The good news is that once they resolve whatever they're reviewing, your refund should process pretty quickly after that. Keep checking your transcript every Friday morning when they typically update - look for any new codes or changes in amounts. And definitely read that letter when it comes if you have a 971 code too!

I'm dealing with the same code 570 situation right now and it's so frustrating! Filed early February and been stuck with this hold for weeks. What's really annoying is how vague the IRS is about everything - they just say "additional account action pending" but won't tell you what specifically they're looking at or how long it might take. I've been checking my transcript religiously every Friday but no changes yet. At least seeing all your experiences here makes me feel less alone in this waiting game. Hopefully we all get our refunds soon! 🤞

I totally get the frustration! The lack of transparency from the IRS is probably the worst part of this whole process. I'm in a similar boat - filed in late January and got hit with the 570 code about two weeks ago. It's like being in limbo with no real timeline or explanation. At least we know we're not alone in this! Have you tried calling the IRS directly or are you just waiting it out like most of us seem to be doing?

I've been through this exact situation! Had code 570 for about 8 weeks last year and it was torture waiting. What helped me stay sane was setting up a weekly check routine instead of obsessively looking every day. The IRS usually updates transcripts on Fridays, so I'd check then and try to forget about it the rest of the week. In my case, it turned out they were just double-checking my filing status since I switched from married filing separately to jointly. Once they cleared it, I got my refund within 2 weeks. Hang in there - I know it's easier said than done when you're counting on that money!

That's really helpful advice about the weekly check routine! I'm definitely guilty of obsessively checking my transcript multiple times a day which just makes the anxiety worse. Setting up that Friday routine sounds like a much healthier approach. It's reassuring to hear that yours resolved after 8 weeks - gives me hope that there's light at the end of the tunnel. Did you notice any other codes appear before it cleared, or did the 570 just disappear when they finished their review?

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed in mid-January and got hit with code 570 about 10 days ago. It's so stressful not knowing what they're reviewing or how long it'll take. I've been trying not to check my transcript every day but it's hard when you're expecting that refund money. Reading everyone's experiences here is actually pretty comforting - seems like most people do eventually get it resolved, even if it takes longer than we'd like. Has anyone had success calling the IRS to get more info, or do they just give you the same vague "additional processing time needed" response?
