IRS Refund Delay: 60+ Days and Counting. Any Tips to Speed It Up?
Hey everyone, I'm still waiting on my tax refund from the IRS. It's been over 60 days now and I'm getting frustrated. Has anyone else experienced long delays like this? What did you do to finally get your refund? I'm thinking about calling them but I've heard horror stories about wait times. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I was in the same boat last year. Waited almost 3 months for my refund. It's ridiculous how slow they are. Have you tried checking the 'Where's My Refund' tool on the IRS website? Sometimes that can give you an update.

Yeah, I've been checking that tool every day. It just says 'Your return is still being processed.' So frustrating! š¤

Pro tip: check it only once a week. I swear, the more you check, the longer it takes lol. It's like watching water boil š«

Haha, maybe you're right. I'll try to resist the urge to check it constantly. Thanks for the tip!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Jc9x-gysK0

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth it if you're desperate to talk to someone.

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. They have good reviews online. Just sharing what worked for me š¤·āāļø

Listen up, folks. Here's what you need to know about IRS refund delays: ā¢ The IRS is seriously backlogged. COVID, budget cuts, and new tax laws have created a perfect storm. ā¢ If your return was filed electronically and there are no issues, you should get your refund within 21 days. ā¢ Paper returns take much longer - up to 6 months or more. ā¢ If you claimed certain credits (like Earned Income Tax Credit), your refund might be delayed for additional review. ā¢ Errors on your return will definitely cause delays. What you can do: 1. Double-check your return for errors. 2. Use the 'Where's My Refund' tool, but only check once a week. 3. If it's been more than 21 days (for e-file) or 6 months (for paper), call the IRS. 4. Consider using a tax advocate service if you're facing financial hardship due to the delay. Remember, patience is key. The IRS will eventually process your return. If you absolutely need to call, try early morning or late evening for shorter wait times.

Wow, thanks for this detailed info! Really helpful. I did file electronically, so I guess I'm just in that backlog you mentioned. Fingers crossed it comes through soon.

The IRS is a joke. They expect us to pay on time but take forever to give us our money back. It's highway robbery I tell ya! š¤¬

Hey OP, have you checked if there were any errors on your return? Sometimes even small mistakes can cause big delays. Might be worth double-checking everything.

I've gone over it a few times and everything looks correct to me. But maybe I'll have someone else take a look just in case. Thanks for the suggestion!
