IRS 60-day review radio silence - What to do next?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. It's been over 60 days since I filed for my tax review, and I haven't heard a peep from the IRS. No updates, no notices, nothing. I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else been in this situation? What should I do next? I'm thinking about calling them, but I'm not sure what to ask or how to approach it. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel ya. I was in the same boat last year. It's so frustrating when they leave you hanging like that. Have you tried checking your account online? Sometimes they update stuff there before sending out notices.

Thanks for the tip! I actually did check online, but there's nothing new there either. It's like my review just vanished into thin air 😫

Pro tip: screenshot everything when you check online. The IRS website can be glitchy af and you might need proof later.

60 days? That's nothing lol. I've been waiting for 6 months now. Welcome to the club, buddy. The IRS is seriously understaffed and overworked. You might as well get comfy, cause this could take a while.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Call the IRS directly. The number is 1-800-829-1040. 2. Be prepared to wait. Like, a loooong time. Bring a book or something. 3. When you finally get through, ask for a status update on your review. Be polite but firm. 4. If they can't help, ask to speak to a supervisor. 5. Keep a record of who you talked to and what they said. 6. If all else fails, contact your local Taxpayer Advocate Service. They can sometimes cut through the red tape. Good luck! The system is a mess, but persistence usually pays off.

This is solid advice right here 💯 I'd add one more thing: if you can, try calling early in the morning or late in the day. Sometimes the wait times are shorter.

lmao good luck getting anyone on the phone. I tried calling for weeks and always got the "due to high call volume" message. It's a joke.

I found a way to get through! There's this service called claimyr.com that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

Wait, seriously? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but it really did work. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Idk man, paying to talk to the IRS feels wrong somehow. Shouldn't this be a free service?

I get where you're coming from, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not having to sit on hold for hours was totally worth the cost.

Have you considered reaching out to your congressperson? Sometimes they can light a fire under the IRS's butt. Just a thought!

Oh wow, I hadn't even thought of that. Do you know if it actually works?

It worked for my cousin! Took about 3 weeks, but she finally got a response after months of silence. Worth a shot!
