Direct Deposit Date 03/15 to Bank of America - Still Nothing Showing Up
My direct deposit date was for 03/15 to be deposited to Bank of America... still nothing as of today. Is anyone else having this same issue with this particular bank? I'm trying not to worry too much, but it's been several days now and I'm wondering if this is normal or if I should be concerned. Has anyone experienced delays with BoA specifically?

I've seen this happen quite a few times with Bank of America this tax season. In my experience, they sometimes hold tax refunds for 1-3 business days before releasing them to your account, especially for larger amounts. Last year, my refund came 2 days after the DDD date, and I've heard from others that BoA has been particularly slow this year. Have you checked your tax transcript to confirm the refund was actually sent?

Just to clarify what might be happening - there's often a gap between when the IRS says they've sent it and when banks actually post it to your account. I work in financial services, and I can tell you that Bank of America specifically has a review process for government deposits that can add 1-2 business days. It's frustrating but usually resolves itself by the end of the week.

Omg I'm having the EXACT same issue with BoA right now!! My DDD was 3/15 too and still nothing in my account! I'm freaking out a little because I need this money for rent. 😰 So you're saying this is normal with them???

Has anyone tried calling the Bank of America tax refund specific line? I found on their website that they have a dedicated department for government deposits. Wondering if that's faster than the regular customer service?

I was in your exact situation last month. Direct deposit date came and went, nothing in my BoA account for 3 days. I was getting really anxious until I used https://taxr.ai to decode my transcript. It showed my refund was actually sent but had a code indicating a slight delay in processing. The site explained exactly what was happening and when to expect it - showed up exactly when predicted. Saved me a lot of stress knowing it wasn't lost somewhere.

Another tax transcript tool? IRS provides all this info for free. Not sure why people pay for these services.

How exactly does taxr.ai work with the transcript? Is it like having an accountant look at it, but automated? My transcript looks like hieroglyphics to me.

I've been helping people on this sub for years and honestly wish I'd known about this sooner! The IRS transcript codes are not intuitive for most people.

A few questions about this: • Does it just read the transcript or does it need other info? • How accurate was the predicted deposit date? • Is there a free version to try first?

Bank of America customer here with a similar experience. My DDD was 3/8, didn't show up until 3/12. Called BoA and they said they had received it but it was in their "processing queue" 🙄. Something about additional verification for government deposits over a certain amount. The funny thing is, I had this same issue last year too! Maybe time to switch banks, lol.

Did Bank of America specifically mention what threshold triggers this additional verification? I'm wondering if there's a specific dollar amount that causes the hold. The Federal Reserve Regulation CC allows banks to hold government checks, but they're supposed to make the first $5,525 available by the next business day.

This is a common issue with several banks, not just BoA. Here's what the community has figured out about bank processing times this tax season: 1. Credit unions tend to process fastest (often same-day) 2. Online banks like Chime often post 1-2 days early 3. Traditional banks (BoA, Chase, Wells Fargo) often take 1-3 business days after the IRS date 4. If it's been more than 5 business days, that's when you should start investigating The IRS considers their job done once they send the ACH, but banks have their own processing schedules.

This is super helpful info! I've been stressing out but I'm only on business day 3 with BoA. Will give it until Friday before I start making calls. Thanks for breaking it down so clearly!

If you're still not seeing your refund by the end of this week, you might need to contact the IRS directly. I was in a similar situation last month and spent HOURS trying to get through on their phone lines. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got connected to an IRS agent in about 15 minutes. The agent confirmed my refund was actually sent and gave me a trace number to share with my bank. Turns out BoA had flagged it for review because of the amount. Having that trace number forced them to locate and release it within 24 hours.

Word of caution here - I would NOT call Bank of America's general customer service line about this. They typically cannot see pending ACH transfers in their system, and will likely just tell you they don't see anything coming. This happened to me, and I unnecessarily filed a refund trace with the IRS, which probably delayed things further. It's generally better to wait at least 5 business days after your DDD before taking any action, unless your transcript shows an issue.

Pro tip: if ur still waiting, try checking ur acct super early in the AM. BoA often processes these deposits in overnight batches around 3-4am EST. Mine randomly appeared at 3:42am even tho it wasn't there when I checked right before bed. Also, the mobile app sometimes updates slower than the website, so def check both. Hang in there - it's prob just stuck in their processing queue!

I had this exact situation with Bank of America last month. My DDD was February 22nd, nothing appeared until February 25th. I called them after day 2 and they claimed they hadn't received anything, but then it magically appeared the next morning. I've been with BoA for 12 years and this happens almost every tax season - they're consistently slower than other banks with tax refunds. Has anyone else confirmed their deposit arrived yet from the 3/15 batch?
