DDD shows 03/12 but no deposit yet - TurboTax says it's coming?

My deposit date is 03/12 but still no money in my account. I got the email from TurboTax telling me my refund is on the way, but nothing's shown up yet. Last year my refund came exactly on the DDD, so this is unusual. Anyone know what's going on? Is it just delayed or do I need to contact someone? Not trying to be impatient but tuition payment is due soon.

This is actually fairly common this time of year. There can be a delay between when the IRS releases your refund and when it actually posts to your account. Have you checked your transcript to confirm the DDD? Sometimes banks also hold deposits for 1-2 business days before making them available. Did TurboTax mention using a third-party processor like SBTPG for your refund?

Did you have any fees taken out of your refund? According to IRS Publication 1345, when you pay preparation fees from your refund, it must go through a third-party processor first. This can add 1-5 business days to the timeline. Also, did you file with a Recovery Rebate Credit or any other credits that might trigger additional verification?

OMG I was in the EXACT same situation last week! My DDD was 3/5 and I didn't get my money until 3/8! I was freaking out because I needed to pay rent. I spent HOURS trying to call the IRS and couldn't get through. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got connected to an agent in like 20 minutes! They confirmed my refund was sent but explained it was probably delayed at my bank or the tax preparer's bank. Sure enough, it showed up a day later!

I'm not entirely convinced these services are necessary... couldn't you just keep calling the IRS yourself? I've heard mixed things about paying for something you can technically do for free, though I suppose time is valuable too.

The IRS call volume this season is unprecedented according to my tax professional. I personally tried calling 14 times over 3 days with no success before using Claimyr. Their system navigated the IRS phone tree and waited on hold for me. When an agent was available, I received a call. The time saved was absolutely worth it when you're concerned about a missing refund.

Have you taken these steps to check on your refund status? 1. Verify the account number on your tax return matches your current account 2. Check if your bank shows any pending deposits 3. Contact TurboTax to confirm if they sent it through SBTPG (Santa Barbara Tax Products Group) 4. Look at your IRS transcript for any additional codes besides the DDD Sometimes the delay is just the processing time between systems.

Did you check if you had fees taken out of your refund? It's like ordering a package - if it makes extra stops along the way, it takes longer to reach you. Your refund might be stopping at TurboTax's bank first, then your bank second. Have you logged into TurboTax to see if there's a more detailed status? Sometimes they have a separate tracker for the bank transfer part.

Anyone know if this applies to Credit Karma Tax too? My refund was supposed to arrive yesterday. Nothing yet. Do they use SBTPG as well? Need this money for a car repair ASAP!

I track tax refund patterns as a hobby, and according to the IRS Refund Status forums and r/tax, there's been a noticeable pattern this filing season where refunds with a DDD between 3/8-3/15 are taking 1-2 days longer than usual. The IRS doesn't officially acknowledge these processing waves, but if you check https://igotmyrefund.com/forums/, you'll see dozens of people reporting the same delay. Most are seeing deposits 1-2 business days after their DDD.

It might be worth checking if your refund is actually being offset for any reason. Sometimes the IRS will send a notice about this, but the notice might arrive after your expected DDD. I believe there's also a difference between the IRS sending the refund and when it actually posts to your account. I think most banks don't process deposits on weekends, so if your DDD fell near a weekend, that could possibly explain the delay.

You're right on the money about weekend processing! My direct deposit hit exactly at 3AM on the first business day after my DDD which fell on a Saturday. The bank confirmed they don't process ACH transfers on weekends or holidays.

I received exactly $3,247.82 from my refund instead of the $4,500 I was expecting because of an offset for old student loans. They took precisely $1,252.18 and I didn't know until I got the letter 5 days after my deposit date. Check the Treasury Offset Program at 800-304-3107 to see if this happened to you.
