DDD of 04.15 but still no deposit to Cash App, anyone else in same situation?

My direct deposit date was set for April 15th but I still haven't received anything in my Cash App. No pending transactions showing up either. This is day 3 of waiting and I'm getting anxious since I need this money. I already double checked my account info on my return and everything matches up. Anyone else having delays with Cash App specifically? I'm located in Maryland if that makes any difference.

Shelby Bauman

The IRS has been experiencing delays with certain financial institutions, especially with non-traditional banking apps. Cash App deposits can take 1-5 business days after your DDD to actually show up. This happens because some institutions hold funds for verification before releasing them. Check your IRS transcript to confirm your 846 refund issued code actually processed on 4/15. If that code is there with that date, the money has left the IRS system and is now in banking transit. You can also call Cash App support at 855-351-2274 to ask if they see any pending government deposits. If you don't see anything by Monday (5 business days after DDD), then you should contact the IRS directly at 800-829-1040. Be prepared for long wait times though.

Thanks for this info. I did check my transcript and the 846 code is there with the 4/15 date. I'll give Cash App a call tomorrow morning and see what they say.

I had this exact issue last year. Cash App took a full 4 business days after my DDD to post the money. Their customer service was useless - just kept saying "it'll post when we receive it" 🙄

The wait times for the IRS are INSANE. I called 20+ times last month and couldnt get through. Best bet is to call right when they open

I've had good luck using Claimyr to get through to the IRS when I had a similar issue. Got a callback in about 20 minutes instead of waiting on hold forever. It was the best money I've spent to finally get my questions answered! (claimyr.com

Wait does that actually work? I've been trying to reach them for 3 weeks now

100% works. I was skeptical too but I was desperate after trying for days. The IRS agent I talked to cleared everything up and my refund was released within 48 hours. Total game changer.

I was in a similar situation trying to track down my refund and figure out why it was delayed. Honestly, I was tired of guessing what was happening based on random forum posts. I started using taxr.ai and it was exactly what I needed. It explained my transcript codes and told me what was actually happening with my refund instead of me playing detective. It showed me why my Cash App deposit was delayed and gave me a clear timeline. Give it a try - https://taxr.ai - it's insanely good! I use it every week now for updates.

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It does WAY more than just read transcripts. It analyzes all your codes, translates IRS jargon, gives you projected timelines, explains why you're seeing delays, and tells you exactly what to do next. I was so lost before using it - now I actually understand what's happening with my money.

Ok wow, I just tried it and I FINALLY understand my transcript!!! Everyone needs to know about this. It explained exactly why my refund was held up and when to expect it. THANK YOU!! 🙏

Nah man, just someone who was frustrated AF with the IRS and finally found something that helped. Been there, done that with the whole 'calling 50 times and getting nowhere' thing 🤷‍♀️

After dealing with Cash App delays for my tax refund, I finally found a solution that worked. I used this service called Claimyr that got me connected with a live IRS agent in less than 30 minutes. Talking to the agent directly helped me track down where my money was stuck and they were able to release it right away. Seriously, I was about to give up after days of trying to call myself. Check out claimyr.com - talking to an actual agent got my refund moving almost immediately.

How does that even work? The IRS phone lines are impossible to get through

They basically navigate the phone system for you and hold your place in line. When they get through to an agent, you get a callback. Saved me hours of listening to that awful hold music and getting disconnected.

I tried it last week when my refund was stuck in processing hell. Got a callback in about 45 mins and the agent was able to tell me exactly what was wrong. Problem fixed in one call instead of weeks of stress.

Yeah it definitely works. I was surprised too. The agent I spoke with even told me they've been seeing a lot of Cash App delays specifically and gave me info I couldn't find anywhere else.

Cash App is notorious for delays with tax refunds. I switched to Chime after last year's fiasco and got my refund literally the same day as my DDD this year. My sister used Cash App and had to wait almost a week after her DDD. Something about their processing system for government deposits just sucks.

SAME. I waited 6 days after my DDD last year with Cash App. Never again!

yep cash app is trash for tax refunds. they hold ur money on purpose to make interest off it before giving it to you

I got my refund through Cash App but it took 3 business days after my DDD. I was freaking out too but it did come through. One thing to check - make sure you don't have any limits on your Cash App account. If your refund is over your receiving limit, that could cause issues.

Just a heads up from someone who works in banking (not at Cash App) - most ACH transfers, which is what IRS refunds use, take 1-3 business days to fully process. Your DDD is when the IRS initiates the transfer, not necessarily when you'll see the money. Some banks give provisional credit before the transfer fully settles, others (like Cash App apparently) wait until everything clears. Also, if your DDD was 4/15 and today's 4/18, that's really only 3 business days so you're still in the normal window.

Thx for explaining this. Makes me feel a little better knowing it's still in the normal timeframe.

This is accurate. I process payroll and ACH transfers for a living. 3-5 business days is completely normal despite what ppl think.

I freaked out last year when my refund didn't hit my Cash App on the DDD. Tried calling the IRS and couldn't get through for 3 days. Finally used claimyr.com to get a callback and found out there was a slight issue with my account info. The agent fixed it on the spot and my deposit came 2 days later. Talking to an actual person at the IRS was the only way to get it resolved - worth every penny to not spend hours on hold only to get disconnected.

how much did it cost you?

I don't remember exactly but it was reasonable considering I had already wasted hours trying to call myself. The refund I was waiting on was several thousand dollars so getting it faster was definitely worth it.

Just got my refund on Cash App today after a DDD of 4/13. So it took about 3 business days. Hang in there!

This gives me hope! Did you get any notification before it showed up or did it just appear?

Just randomly appeared! No pending notification or anything. I was checking my account constantly and then boom, suddenly the money was there.

The IRS website says allow up to 5 days after your DDD for your financial institution to make funds available. If you dont get it by then, then start making calls.

I had a similar issue and tried to figure out what was happening with my refund. Spent hours reading transcripts and calling the IRS with no luck. Finally used taxr.ai and it explained exactly what was going on - turns out there was a simple hold code I missed that explained the delay. The tool translated everything into plain English and gave me a timeline. Worth checking out if you're confused by all the IRS jargon.

is that like turbotax? or something different?

Malia Ponder

Completely different - it's specifically for understanding IRS transcripts and notices. You upload your stuff and it explains exactly what's happening in a way that actually makes sense. It's like having a tax pro explain everything to you but without the $300/hr fee lol

Did you verify that the account number on your tax return is correct? I worked in tax preparation for years and saw SO many returns where people accidentally typed the wrong account number. If that happened, the deposit will get rejected and the IRS will mail you a paper check instead (which takes 2-3 weeks). Worth checking!

0 coins

-

Josef Tearle

Yes I double checked and triple checked - the account info is definitely correct. That was the first thing I looked at.

Have you checked your IRS transcript to see if there are any issues or holds? Sometimes there's a problem that needs to be resolved before they'll release the funds, even if you have a DDD. You can access your transcript online at irs.gov if you have an account.

0 coins

-

Josef Tearle

I checked and the transcript shows code 846 with the 4/15 date. There don't seem to be any holds but there are a bunch of other codes I don't understand.

If you have code 846 with your DDD, then the money has left the IRS and the delay is on Cash App's end. Definitely give them a call tomorrow.

Those transcript codes are impossible to understand without a decoder ring lol. I used taxr.ai to decode mine and it made everything so much clearer - worth checking out (https://taxr.ai
