Anyone with CashApp direct deposit get their refund from 2/26 date yet?

Filed my taxes early in January and got accepted right away. My Where's My Refund shows a direct deposit date of February 26, 2023 to my CashApp account. Its been 4 days now and still nothing in my account. Has anyone else who uses CashApp for their refund actually received their money yet from that 2/26 deposit date? Starting to get worried since I've never had it take this long before.

I work at a tax preparation office and we're seeing delays with several financial technology platforms including CashApp. The IRS sends the money on the date shown in Where's My Refund, but there can be processing delays on the receiving end. Some banks/services hold funds for up to 5 business days for verification, especially with tax refunds which are high-risk for fraud. Since 2/26 was a Friday, consider that weekend days don't count as business days. I'd suggest checking your CashApp transaction history to see if there's a pending deposit. If nothing shows by Wednesday (5 business days), contact CashApp support and have your IRS refund information ready. You can also call the IRS refund hotline at 1-800-829-1954 to confirm the money was actually sent.

Thanks for explaining that. I didn't realize weekend days don't count for business days. I'll give it until Wednesday before panicking.

This happened to me last year with my credit union. Said it was deposited but took 3 more days to hit my account. The anxiety was real lol

Sometimes u can also check ur transcript on irs.gov to see if it actually went out when they said it would. Might give u peace of mind

My money finally hit today! Exactly 5 business days after the DD date. Thanks for this info!

Dealing with all this tax refund uncertainty is exactly why I started using taxr.ai - it's an amazing tool that actually helps you understand exactly what's happening with your refund by analyzing your transcript. Instead of guessing or waiting anxiously, it tells you the exact status, if there are any holds, and when you'll likely get paid. It's insanely good! I use it every week during tax season now. https://taxr.ai

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

0 coins

It does WAY more than just read the transcript. It analyzes all those confusing codes and transactions, explains what they mean in plain English, identifies any issues that might delay your refund, and gives you the real timeline for when you'll get paid. It saved me from calling the IRS multiple times this year - it told me exactly why my refund was delayed (verification hold) and when it would be released, which was spot on!

Just tried it and WOW - this is a gamechanger! I've been staring at my transcript for days trying to figure out what those codes meant. This tool explained everything instantly and told me my refund is actually scheduled for release tomorrow! Everyone needs to know about this!!

wait does it need your login info for the irs site or something? kinda hesitant to give access to tax stuff

It doesn't ask for your login. You upload your transcript document after you download it from the IRS site yourself. They explain it all on their site.

I actually found a way to get through to a human at the IRS about my cashapp situation. Used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that somehow gets you past all the hold times and connects you with an actual IRS agent. I was skeptical at first but it worked perfectly - agent confirmed my money was sent out and the holdup was on Cashapp's end. I swear talking to an actual person and getting real answers was worth every penny instead of stressing for days. Got my issue resolved in 20 minutes instead of weeks of wondering.

another miracle solution that probably doesn't work... what's the catch? 🙄

Mason Davis

•

No catch - it literally just gets you through to an IRS agent without the 3-hour hold time or getting disconnected. I was about to lose my mind trying to reach someone. My refund was actually stuck because of an address verification issue that wouldn't have shown up in the online status.

not falling for another tax 'hack'... these never work

I actually used it too. Best money I've spent this tax season considering I was missing a $5400 refund. The agent fixed an error in my account while I was on the phone with them.

I'm cashapp too with exact same DD date. Nothing yet. This is driving me crazy bc I have bills to pay. Guess we'll see what happens tomorrow. I hate not knowing what's going on.

Let me know if yours comes through! Makes me feel better knowing it's not just me having this issue.

The IRS is a complete disaster this year. My friend with regular bank account got his money on 2/26 exactly as scheduled, but I've seen tons of posts from people with online banks and services having delays. The IRS needs to get with the times and understand people use digital banking now.

Had the same issue last year. Called CashApp support and they said they need up to 5 business days to process deposits from the IRS. Something about extra verification for government payments. My deposit eventually showed up on day 4, so just hang tight.

This is correct. I work in banking and ACH transfers from govt sources often have additional fraud checks that add 1-5 days to processing.

Mines the same date and nothing yet! Super frustrating! Especially since my transcript says refund issued. If I had known cashapp would be this slow I would have just done check. Never using them again tbh

Same! I feel like the IRS should warn people about these delays with certain banks/services. Why tell us 2/26 if it's not actually 2/26???

last year my refund hit 4 days after the wher's my refund date. the IRS is not responsible once they send it so technically they sent it on 2/26 but cahsapp is holdin it. my boyfriend got his the same day with a credit union.

I spent HOURS trying to figure this out. Has anyone ever looked at their transcript? It's like trying to read hieroglyphics 🤣 I finally tried the taxr.ai site someone mentioned and holy crap it makes so much sense. My transcript actually shows the money left the IRS but CashApp has a hold on it. At least now I know what's happening!

The IRS transcript is the most confusing thing I've ever seen. All those codes make zero sense. I'll check out that site.

check your cashapp settings and make sure you have direct deposits enabled. I forgot to turn that on and my refund bounced back to the IRS last year. total nightmare.

Just checked and deposits are enabled. Good suggestion though, I could totally see myself forgetting something like that! 😅

Got mine today (3/2) after dd date of 2/26. Was stressing hard because i needed that money for rent. Cashapp is slower than traditional banks for tax refunds apparently.

call the IRS, dont waste time here. I called them about my missing refund using claimyr.com to bypass the phone lines (best $20 I've ever spent). turns out there was an issue with my cashapp account info they had on file. got it fixed in 10 mins and my refund came 3 days later.

yeah totally worked! i was shocked. i tried calling the IRS for 3 days in a row and kept getting disconnected. the claimyr service called me back with an agent already on the line. they handle all the waiting and menu navigation.

I'm having the EXACT same issue but with Chime. DD date of 2/26 and still nothing 😡 I'm so tired of this every single year!

pro tip: never use cashapp for important money like tax refunds. i learned this lesson hard way last year. regular banks might be boring but they process government deposits way more consistently.

Good luck with that lol. Tried for 2 hours yesterday and got nowhere. Best bet is to wait it out or call IRS directly.

PSA: There's a specific code on your transcript (846) that shows when the refund was actually sent. You can verify if it actually went out on 2/26 by checking your transcript. If you don't see that code with the 2/26 date, the money hasn't actually been released yet regardless of what WMR says. You can access this on irs.gov through your online account.

Just tried to check my transcript but the verification system is so annoying. Can't get past it. Ugh.

I did actually check my transcript and I do see the 846 code with 2/26 date. So I guess it really is on CashApp's end now.

I'm in the exact same boat with CashApp and the 2/26 DD date! Been checking my account obsessively for days now. Reading through all these comments is actually really helpful - sounds like CashApp just takes longer to process IRS refunds than traditional banks. I'm going to check my transcript tonight to see if I have that 846 code with the 2/26 date to confirm the IRS actually sent it. At least now I know it's normal for CashApp to take up to 5 business days. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - makes me feel way less anxious about this!

Same here! I've been refreshing my CashApp every few hours like it's going to magically appear 😅 It's so nerve-wracking when you're expecting money and it just doesn't show up when it's supposed to. I didn't realize the 5 business day thing was normal for CashApp - definitely going to remember that for next year. The transcript checking tip is super helpful too, I'm going to try that tonight as well. Glad we're all going through this together!
