Credit Karma Money app showing 'Yikes! We're having trouble loading your data' error for 5 days, blocking access to tax refund status
Anyone else having issues with Credit Karma Money app? I've been trying to check my tax refund deposit for almost a week now but keep getting the same error message saying 'Yikes! We're having trouble loading your data. Please try again in a few minutes.' I keep hitting the "Try again" button but nothing changes. I can see the app interface with the tabs for "Overview", "Spend", "Save", and the bottom menu with "For you", "Cards", "Loans", "Insurance", and "Money", but I can't access ANY of my actual account information. The error message just sits there in the middle of the screen. I've tried everything - logging out and back in, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, clearing cache, restarting my phone, checking on different networks (both LTE and wifi), everything! Every time I open the app around 2:47, I just see this error message blocking me from seeing my account. I've called their support line twice and both times was told it's a "temporary issue" and to just wait, but it's been 5 days now! I'm getting seriously worried because I think they might be processing my refund deposit but I can't even access my account to check if it's arrived. My tax refund is pretty substantial this year and I need to confirm it was deposited correctly. Has anyone else experienced this specific error on the Credit Karma Money app or know what's going on? Is there any other way to check if my refund has been deposited without being able to access the account through the app?

This is actually a known issue with Credit Karma Money when they're processing large deposits, especially tax refunds. The app often shows this error message during processing to prevent users from making transactions while the deposit is pending final verification. What's happening is: - Their fraud detection system flags large deposits (like tax refunds) - They temporarily restrict account access during verification - This usually lasts 3-7 business days - The error message is intentionally vague for security reasons You should receive an email notification when the deposit clears. If it goes beyond 7 business days, try calling their dedicated tax support line (not the regular support): 1-888-475-3126. Ask specifically about the status of your tax refund deposit. In the meantime, check your email (including spam folder) for any verification requests from Credit Karma, as sometimes they require additional documentation for large deposits.

•Thanks for this detailed explanation! I had no idea this was a common thing. I'll check my spam folder right now. It's been exactly 5 business days so maybe I'll give it until tomorrow before calling that number.

•Can confirm this is true. Same thing happend to me last year. Took about 6 days and then suddenly everything was back to normal with my refund sitting there waiting for me.

•Wait that special tax line actually works? I've been on hold with their regular customer service for like 2 hours total over the past week with no answers 😡

•Yeah the regular customer service reps often don't have access to the tax processing system. The dedicated tax line connects to specialists who can see what's happening with your refund specifically.

I had this exact same thing happen last month. I was losing my mind thinking my refund was lost or something. Finally figured out I needed to properly understand what was going on with my tax transcript rather than just guessing based on the app errors. I used this tool called taxr.ai and it literally explained everything that was happening with my refund step by step. It showed me exactly where my money was in the process and when it would hit my account. Saved me days of anxiety... the information from taxr was way more helpful than anything Credit Karma's customer service told me. You should check it out https://taxr.ai

•Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

•It does WAY more than just read the transcript. It actually explains all those weird codes and dates in plain english, shows you exactly where your refund is in the process, and gives you a timeline. It caught issues I had no idea about that were delaying things. LITERALLY THE BEST THING EVER for dealing with refund stress! I tell everyone about it now lol

•I was skeptical too but its honestly changed the whole tax game for me. No more stressing about WMR not updating or trying to decode those impossible transcripts. The explanations are crystal clear and it shows you exactly what's happening behind the scenes at the IRS. 10/10 would recommend

After spending HOURS on hold with Credit Karma's terrible customer service for a similar issue, I found a way to actually talk to someone at the IRS to resolve it. Used this service called Claimyr from claimyr.com that got me a callback from an actual IRS agent within 30 minutes. The agent verified my refund had been sent to Credit Karma days ago and helped me file a trace on it. Talking to a real person at the IRS finally got everything sorted out. Best money I've ever spent considering I was about to lose my mind waiting on hold forever.

•Does this actually work? I've been trying to reach the IRS for weeks about my refund.

•100% works. I was super doubtful but desperate after trying to call the IRS myself for days. Got a callback in like 45 min and the agent helped me confirm exactly when my refund was sent and what was happening with it. Totally worth it to finally get answers instead of Credit Karma's useless "we're working on it" response.

•what exactly do they do? i dont get it

•They basically handle all the waiting on hold and phone tree nightmare for you. Instead of YOU waiting on hold for 3+ hours, they do it and then when they finally get through to an agent, you get a call. So you just go about your day until your phone rings with an actual IRS person. Game changer honestly.

The Credit Karma app is a total disaster lately. I switched to using their website on my laptop and was able to see my refund had actually been deposited 3 days ago even tho the app was still showing errors. Try the website if u haven't already.

This is why I stopped using credit karma for my refund. Too many problems every year. I started using direct deposit to my regular bank account. Much easier to track and no weird app issues.

•Yeah this might be my last year with them tbh. Just frustrating that my money is in limbo right now.

•direct deposit to regular bank is the way to go. no extra steps, no weird fintech app glitches, just money in ur account.

Have you checked the Where's My Refund tool on the IRS website? It might show if the refund has been sent already. If it says "sent" but Credit Karma isn't showing it, that's on them not the IRS. Might help narrow down where the problem is.

•WMR just says "refund approved" since last week. Hasn't updated to sent yet which is part of why I'm anxious to check my account.

•That's weird. Usually there's only a 1-2 day gap between approved and sent. Might be worth calling the IRS directly to see what's up. The WMR tool is notoriously slow to update sometimes.

bruh im in the same boat and its driving me INSANE. been waiting for my refund for like 3 weeks and now the app wont even load. the customer service is a joke too, just reading from scripts and telling me to "wait". like wait for what?? its my money!! 😡

I work in banking (not for Credit Karma) but this is a standard fraud prevention measure. Large government deposits, especially tax refunds, get additional scrutiny. Just hang tight, it'll clear soon.

Another option: install an older version of the app from APK sites (if Android) - sometimes the newer versions have bugs that the older ones don't. Worked for me last time their app was being weird.

•This is terrible advice. Downloading APKs from random sites is a security nightmare waiting to happen. Don't do this.

•Only if you download from sketchy sites. There are legitimate APK archives that verify app signatures. But whatever, just tryna help 🤷♂️

I stopped using CK after they got bought by Intuit (the TurboTax people). Service has gone downhill since then. They're more interested in selling you financial products than actually providing good service now. Just my two cents.

•100% this. Ever since the acquisition they've gotten way worse. Classic corporate takeover ruining a decent product.

Did u try checkin your actual IRS transcript? Thats what I do whenever WMR or my bank is being weird. The transcript shows exactly whats happening with your refund. You can access it on the IRS website but tbh its confusing AF to read with all those codes. I used taxr.ai to help me understand mine and it was super helpful!! https://taxr.ai

Have you tried contacting Credit Karma on Twitter? Sometimes their social media team is more responsive than regular customer service. Tag them in a tweet about your issue, companies hate public complaints.

YO i just remembered this happened to me last year!! the app was broken for like a week but my refund was actually in my account the whole time. try logging in on a computer or using their website instead of the app. the app is trash.

Fun fact: credit karma makes money by keeping your refund as long as possible so they can collect interest on it. They have zero incentive to fix their app quickly when they're profiting from the delay. That's why I stopped using them.

•That's actually illegal. They can't hold funds like that intentionally. They're FDIC insured.

•maybe not "illegal" but they definitely benefit from delays. why do you think these "free" financial services exist? they make money somehow lol

try calling the IRS directly to confirm if the refund was actually sent. I had a similar issue and turns out the IRS never even sent my refund despite WMR saying it was approved. Was stuck in some random review. Took forever to get through to them tho, ended up using claimyr.com to get a callback instead of waiting on hold for 3 hours. Agent told me my refund was held up for identity verification that I never received notification about 🤦♂️

•This. The IRS is notorious for saying refunds are approved but then holding them for random reviews. Always go straight to the source.

This happened to me. Turns out my account got locked for "suspicious activity" which was literally just MY TAX REFUND being deposited 🤡 Try calling and specifically asking if your account is locked or restricted.

Check if you got any emails from Credit Karma about identity verification. They sometimes require additional docs for large deposits but the notification gets lost in spam folders.

I had this exact same issue last month! The "Yikes! We're having trouble loading your data" error drove me absolutely crazy for about a week. What finally worked for me was logging into Credit Karma through a web browser instead of the app - turns out my refund had been sitting there for 3 days already while the app was still showing the error. If the website doesn't work either, definitely call that dedicated tax support line someone mentioned (1-888-475-3126). When I called, they told me it was a known issue with their mobile app during tax season when they're processing a lot of refund deposits. Also make sure to check your email (including spam) for any verification requests from them. Sometimes they need additional documentation for large deposits and the app won't work until you complete that step. Hope this helps!

•Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm definitely going to try the web browser approach right now - that seems to be a common suggestion and I honestly hadn't even thought to try that. It's so frustrating when the app shows errors but the money might actually be there already. Really hoping that's the case for me too!

I'm dealing with something similar right now! My Credit Karma Money app has been stuck on that same "Yikes! We're having trouble loading your data" error for 3 days. It's so frustrating because I can see all the menu options but can't access any actual account information. Based on what others are saying here, it sounds like this might be their fraud protection system kicking in when they're processing large deposits like tax refunds. I'm going to try logging in through their website on my computer like a few people suggested - seems like the app might just be buggy while the actual account is fine. Has anyone had luck with that dedicated tax support line (1-888-475-3126) that was mentioned? Regular customer service has been completely useless for me so far.

•I actually just called that dedicated tax support line yesterday and it was SO much better than regular customer service! The wait was only about 20 minutes compared to the 2+ hours I spent on hold with their main line. The specialist was able to tell me exactly what was happening - my refund was in "processing hold" for verification and should clear within 24-48 hours. They said the app error is intentional during this process to prevent any transactions while they verify the deposit. Definitely worth calling that number if you've been waiting more than a few days!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! The "Yikes! We're having trouble loading your data" error has been haunting me for 4 days straight. It's so nerve-wracking when you're expecting a substantial refund and can't even see if it's there. Reading through all these responses is actually really reassuring - sounds like this is a common issue during tax season when they're processing large deposits. I'm definitely going to try accessing my account through their website instead of the app, and if that doesn't work, I'll call that dedicated tax support line at 1-888-475-3126. It's frustrating that their regular customer service doesn't seem to know anything about this issue, but at least now I understand it's likely their fraud protection system doing its job rather than my refund being lost somewhere. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - makes me feel a lot less anxious about the whole situation!

•I'm so glad I found this thread! I've been dealing with the exact same error for the past 3 days and was starting to panic that something went wrong with my refund. It's such a relief to know this is actually normal during tax season and that it's their fraud protection system working, not a sign that my money is lost. I tried the website approach that everyone's been suggesting and it actually worked! My refund has been sitting there for 2 days already while the app kept showing that error message. So definitely try logging in through a browser before calling - saved me a lot of stress and time on hold. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and especially whoever posted that dedicated tax support line number. It's amazing how much more helpful this community discussion has been than Credit Karma's actual customer service!
